Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

Delightful breakfast this morning. Sausage, bacon, tomato and egg.
Lunch in 2 hours time. Think I'll have mixed berries, full fat Greek yoghurt and nuts.
Dunno about dinner tonight. That's a pink job.

Have fun,
Glenn

At 7g of carbs in a teaspoon of honey, I prefer to stick to sugar free (so carb free) maple syrup ;)
Where do you get the maple syrup, Rachox, please? Or do you make it? I miss maple syrup but am a bit anxious about reintroducing something sweet to my diet - at the moment tasting a cooked carrot is sweet! But I do miss maple syrup.

So far I've had a white coffee for break fast and a low carb shake for lunch. Finding out my HbA1C result (65 or 8.1%) today has put me off dinner - I'll just hide in a dark corner and have a little cry.

Don't cry - sending you hugs!! I was very similar - I was 62 on diagnosis and am now about 36. 5 months after diagnosis I was 39.
Diet doctor website was the way forward for me. This is a start, not an ending, and it is an opportunity - or at least that is what I have found.
One other thing - it's a lifestyle not a diet, for me. So self deprivation does not work in my book.

Cheese omelette with 150g sweet potato
3 HB eggs with mayo

I'm attempting to reduce carbs, managed a whole day yesterday which was a first and a triumph! The dark rye and sunflower bread did not cause a rise in blood sugar yesterday, so I will test again today and hope to see the same.

A question on levels after meal. Colleague said a reading under 10 2 hours after a meal was OK. I disagreed. Opinions?
My new doctor says that a level around 12 is what he would be happy with, at least until next hba1c. My meds have been changed and he wants to progress slowly so as not to create hypos. Not a level I am happy with but have never felt so well since coming off of metformin (15years)

So this is my first real day at going low carb. Coffee for breakfast, black.

Lunch was 3 slices of bacon, scrambled eggs, half a tin of tomatoes.

Coffee with cream mid afternoon.

Dinner omelette with cheese and pulled ham. Cherry tomatoes, peppers and rocket. Followed by a few blueberries with single cream.

Pleased to say BG was 9.2 - 2 hours later... Which is a massive improvement on the normal double figures.

Been feeling rough today, light headed, nauseous... Think the withdrawals of sugar is taking affect. Had blood pressure checked was fine.

Scrambled eggs for breakfast with warmed cherry tomatoes.

Lunch a breakfast from Sainsbury's, minus the toast and hash brown.

A small bowl of cherry tomatoes with some balsamic dressing.

Dinner is to be egg mayonnaise, pulled ham, rocket, spread cheese (to use up) peppers and some crackers (to use up). Maybe the rest of the blueberries and cream after.

Tea
B: Berries & Greek yogurt, 2 grilled tomatoes on 1 slice seedy bread toasted.
Tea
L: Tesco chicken casserole, 2 chicken wings, 3 tiny melon slices, WW yogurt.
Tea
T: Pork chop, sweet potatoes chips, cabbage.
Coffee
SF lemonade.

I've been low carbing but lapsed today. I had olives in oil, walnuts and 2 babybels for lunch, then chicken breast, baby new potatoes and green beans for dinner with an honest half glass of red wine (I really do drink only very small amounts). After that I had a lapse and ate some leftover Christmas chocolate. It wasn't the wine, I have that on low carb days and when breaking my first fast, which didn't cause any problems. Onwards and upwards tomorrow.

Breakfast:
tea/milk,
egg(fried in butter)
2 sausages(fried in hemp oil)
Baked beans
Any recommendations on low sugar/carb beans - Tesco’s ??

Lunch
Chicken Bone Broth
2 slices brown bread/butter
(Need to make my own low carb bread/or any suggestions)

Snack
Lidles chocolate cupcake n cream
(Totally ruined my carb count/sugars- drank cinnamon in my tea/milk to hopefully lower sugar)

Dinner
Not sure I can have any -
Chicken Bone Broth
