Just curious @True Blue ...when did you get diagnosed ?

Wonder what other method you have been using since ?
Diax last April, given NHS classes 4 hours and lots of diet sheets with advice like "only a small jacket potato". I was just testing 2 hours after lunch once a week, getting typical 8.7 mmo/lt. Metformin SR 2 x 500 mg. Weight 100kg plus. Not feeling right.

My good buddy, slim build age 70+, has recently gone from insulin injecting for problematic T2 to being clear of T2 without meds., just control by meticulous diet and exercise now, after 6 months. I decided to research this a lot more. Just started using my metre to test FBG and BG after different food types and exercise, more than once a day. Some big shocks last week!

Latest FBG today: 10.2, after 11.7 yesterday, previous day 13.0 mmo/lt. Going hard at LCHF. Seems to be working? Morale improving. 2 kg lost since start of Lent.

Greetings to all. Your good interactions on these forums have shown me the way forward.

Good morning all, glad its positive news for you PM, must have been a shock.
My fbg was 7.0 but that was after the OH brought me toasted hotcross buns for brekky in bed which was nice, but after a nearly a year she still seems to struggle with my low carb thing. But she does know my weak spots, who can resist a toasted hot cross bun lathered in butter wafted under your hooter, not me that's for sure, ate two of the blighters.

Thanks EVERYONE for your good wishes. Heard from hospital his overnight ECGs/bloods were ok so hopefully we will be able to pick him up later. It really was a shock as he’s young, very fit, slim eats well but drinks too much and has a very stressful job. My OH has A Fib and says the story was very similar to what led to his dx. We are grateful he didnt have a car crash.

So glad your lad is on the way to recovery but still must be a very worrying time hope fully the doctors will give him the all clear for discharge today and he can spend a restful day with you and your OH .

Ah, the old hot cross bun ambush technique- you have to be so careful with all these symbolic foodstuffs at this time of year.

An Interesting read, @Debandez

.....We would submit that few things can be worse for the coronary arteries than the metabolic and hormonal changes that result in a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.

Reversing the progression of diabetes and the related metabolic syndrome should be the first priority.

It sort of firms up my personal belief that all the previous date re heart issues is more related to the raised sugar then the intake of fats.

The risk to diabetics (most but not all, most likely ) is more pronounced as we continued previously to carry on supplying ourselves with endless carbs on the EATWELL plate...and it's those SUGARS not the fats which raise our risks.

Raising our fats intake AND reducing the carbs....
now THOSE are the figures I'd be interested in seeing.

I'd be most interested to see the heart data for THAT.. among those practicing LCHF over the last FEW AND next few years

My money is on the data being similar to NON Diabetics In the general population.

My cholesterol went high in 2011. 7.9
Was lower in aug 2018 5.4.(1st DX)

higher in Oct 2019 5.6 (month + of EATWELL ). And since dropped to 5.3 jan 2019 . And other lipids trig's etc improved.

I hope and expect (plus a small prayer ;) ) similar improvements next HBA1c blood check

"..and welcome to the sunday show, here playing smooth FBG's Daily on DNR Radio...
the station for the Diabetic Nation.

And thoughts go out to @PenguinMum .
seems one of hers has been taken ill..best wishes for a speedy recovery to your son,, @PenguinMum .

And we welcome a new listener.. Hi @True Blue :)

Weatherwise it's a mixed bag..a few report snow the other side of the wall..(watford :hilarious:)
and down here in the beautiful south (;))
With London standing in for Westeros,
it's become hurricane alley over the last few days.
Winds are whipping across town as we speak..:woot:

So stay safe and wrapped upped,... is the message from the weather room.

Here in the studio, the FBG is a tad high at 6.3..late night snack to blame.

An item in the new today section caught my eye.

Seems a particular type is out there offering hot cross buns to the vulnerable among us..(but who hasn't been there :sorry: )
possibly in return for 'sexual favours' .

Seems one unlucky (lucky ?) listeners came a cropper.

Remember folks, if it LOOKS too good to be true..it probably is.
No such thing as a Free Lunch..So "JUST SAY NO ! " folks.
..
Police are conducting inquiries, due to the abhorrent nature of the crime,
but due to the recent plumbing issues at police HQ toilets, they have nothing to go on.

in sport Liverpool, chelsea and and the big one..Arsenal V Manu Utd all in action

And cheltenham coming up for the horse lovers among us...(@SaskiaKC )

And the next tune up, as suggested by eagle listener @alf_Josiah

one of my Favourites...Hotel California.

So Chill & Relax as you browse the boards.
and we Hope that today brings moments of joy.

( Oh, and btw @trick60 ..we hear EVERYTHING here at DNR Radio.

Thank you, @jjraak ,

well, over on this side of the course, after a short but quiet 5-hour warm-up, our first contender has cantered into the arena and is now saluting the KittenCat at K. Oh, what a lovely finger-stick, right on the mark at X.

A nice 20-meter circle into the kitchen, and a good solid anti-clockwise stirring of the coffee at C, nice extension to take the fake creamer at F, and then more nicely rounded stirring.

So, track left at L into the living room, working trot sitting -- oops! a little anticipation there -- OK, that's better -- and another nice quiet halt at S. Salute the KittenCat. Leave the arena at a free interpretation of a loose translation.

Score moving on to the next phase, 5.9.

Thanks for posting update and glad it seems to be good news. You’re right, so lucky there wasn’t an accident.

Just after Christmas when my daughter was in A and E being checked over after her now ex partner hit her with his car, there was a young man admitted who had been filling his car at a petrol station when he had a cardiac event he also was in his twenties from what I heard subsequently he was evaluated by a cardiac specialist and then later was allowed to go home. It is a shock when young people have problems like this but sadly not uncommon.

Have just heard the cardiologist wants to do more tests tomorrow so he is staying in hospital again tonight. Its rotten for him on his birthday but his Dad and I are impressed that they are being so thorough. He was born with a heart murmur which they told us he would grow out of. His Dad has A Fib and his late mother (sons grandmother) had aortic stenosis though she lived to 89. Heart problems do often run in families. Keeping everything crossed. Thanks for asking everyone. Theres nothing worse than something wrong with your child, whatever age!
