I'm just back after a long pause (literally months!) where I shoved my diabetes to the back of my mind and just pushed in whatever insulin I thought might be enough for whatever I wanted to eat. Didn't bother recording :(

Dunno what changed but I sort of shook myself, woke up and started recording and calculating again.

5.2 when I got up and pleased to be back on track :)

Please do join in and welcome!

So - the final-ish results of the great Scientific Experiment.

I go marginally hypo with all the energy expended yelling at the TV for the duration of the England v. Scotland match, (to be fair to my poor blood sugars, I don't often make them wait past 6.00 p.m. for food.)

I do a meal I've always done, with a similar amount of insulin, similar amount of a walk... and I spend the night in double figures even after a correction dose. I blame the adrenaline - that was one of the most astonishing matches ever!

I go for an hour's walk before church, do double insulin with breakfast (remember the walk is new routine) go for a short walk after church between the hailstorm, and am just back to where I started at breakfast time.

Today also sees children's stuff for church in a couple of hours, so I'm always cautious with insulin prior to that. All the regular adults know to grab my bag from the place where it is always kept, well out of reach of the small children, but I'd rather not go low around 20 or so 2 - 11-year-old youngsters. (An occasional baby, but she stays in her buggy and giggles at us all!)

If it was me I'd think I was brewing up some sort of illness, but then again knowing what we're like it could just be the **** weather! You under any new stress? Or dietary changes of any sort?

Welcome! I did that for a very long time, well done for getting it together :)

It's an on-going Sunday Morning stress... I'm my church's organist, and whilst that is not the stress factor (I've been at the organ playing caper for over 30 years now) there are other stress factors, which I'm not going to name on a public forum. This morning did have me mentally tearing my hair out. The chances are, by 5.00 p.m. tonight, all will be well again. But, I'm looking to see if I need to use a different carbs ratio on a Sunday morning, and it's becoming clearer by the week that I do.

I also support Scottish Rugby - which is a whole-nother kind of life-long stress factor. So, I was kind of intrigued to see if supporting Scotland or going to church has the most detrimental effect on my blood sugars, which I've been reporting back on on this thread.

I'm also inclined to blame the new green socks. (There's a running joke in the depths of this thread about the colour of the socks being the issue!) They are very splendid and comfortable socks, though, so I hope not.

BS still high, lots of stress this morning, so I am going to have a light lunch and a nice cup of calming tea.

8.4 this morning, whether that was the large bowl of special egg fried rice last night or the early morning get up and then back to bed today who knows but I can certainly live with that.

Missed all the shenanigans! @therower what did you say???! ( has to have been you surely) :hilarious:

Bright sunny but a cold wind here, jobs to do inside and out, outside can wait!

Enjoy your Sunday’s people.

8.4 is much better than mine was this morning and it's still up...................:banghead:

@slip. :):):):):):). Not sure whether to be happy or sad with such a slight on my character.
Have no fear , I won’t be reporting you for deformation, I have a sense of humour and thick skin, something lacking in the world these days I feel.
I did get an explanation of forum rules I had contravened. But in my defence I suspect others got similar messages.
Mentioning no names.;);););).
What happened to Hamilton???????

Hi @WuTwo, good to hear you're getting back on track; hope all goes well for you.

@Japes that'a been a fascinating experiment; adrenalin certainly spikes me so I can understand both the rugby events and the Sunday morning problem.

@therower sorry if I missed something, who's Hamilton?

A good day here, figures where I'd like them, lovely sunny day but that wind's sharp. I'm bored with it now.....

@hh1 . Lewis Hamilton.
Slip is are resident go to Formula 1 fan/ expert. He was up early doors watching the Aussie GP.
Hope you’re having a pleasant day.

Welcome. And congrats on the 5.2

Just had a challenging walk in high winds. And yesterday too. Lovely chance to be by the sea but Hamish is now complaining that I’ve been inconsiderate - the wuss. He’ll have a quieter day tomorrow.
The reward today was a pause in a cafe for coffee and cake, a rich concoction of cherries, dates, nuts, coconut sponge and sweetness, it felt ridiculously decadent and I bet no T0s would understand that feeling. I guestimated and got it right! Woohoo, steady line in range - and again, woohoo!!!!

Welcome to forum @WuTwo feel free to post away and enjoy the very friendly banter on here.

Had my first decent walk today with new pump and of course it did not go well. BG had been very high all week, woke to a silly BG of 15.2 at 3.30 this morning, correction dose to bring it down, which I did but not by much only to BG 13.1 at 8.30.

Funnily enough the rest of the morning was actually OK by my standards, around BG of 7.5. Had lunch and bloused for that.

Went for a walk around local country park so nothing too strenuous, i was birdwatching so did not walk fast at all. I had started with a BG of 9.0 After about 25 minutes I did a Libre check BG of 7.6 and heading down. OK so had small bar of chocolate about 25g of carbs. About 20 minutes later gave another check, oooops 5.8 and heading straight down. Out with tester for finger test, BG 4.6. I am now about 30 minutes away from car in middle of some woods, not good. I am always prepared, so down about 200ml of full sugar Cola and back to car with a BG of 5.4

Of course the sugar demons have now kicked in and 1.5 hours after Cola I am now at BG of 11.1. Not great, but if I am out and about, I dont take any chances and will worry about the highs later.

Looks like a wee temp Basal may be needed if I go walkies.

This is going to be fun next week as I am off to Outer Hebrides for 5 days of walking, birdwatching and photography. In the middle of nowhere, where I may not see anyone for hours on end, I hope.

Seriously thinking of going back to MDI to be on safe side, for the 5 days

Can you get a pump clinic appointment before you go? I’m on MDI but have heard that pumps are transformative so maybe yours needs tweaking? Pump users, what do you think?

@smc4761 I find temp basal one of the great pump benefits when used with Libre.
When I see my bg falling, I reduce (or stop) my basal for the next 30 or 60 minutes. This helps level out the bg fall especially when Exercising.
When it worked, Fiasp was best because it started much quicker but it even works with NovoSluggish.

Thanks @helensaramay I am still not sure of what reaction I will get when I adjust the Basal. Only had pump for 2 weeks and have not really done any exercise or had the need to adjust Basal temp or otherwise. I know its going to be trial and error, just not sure if I am ready for such a remote place to experiment.

At least with MDI I have a good idea of what I need to tweek as I have done the walking routes many times

@smc4761 when I went on the pump, I basically did the same for exercise as I did on MDI (reducing my meal bolus by 20% or 30%, depending on time of day and reducing that night's basal. It worked most of the time but reducing my basal an hour or two before, and during dancing was the best thing ever. Yes you will have to tweak here and there but I would say "Go pump in the Hebrides" . Just make sure you have plenty of jelly babies, or whatever your fancy is, just in case.

One thing my DSN said "Keep yourself safe." That's very true, so it's better to be a wee bit high than be low.
Enjoy your holiday, whatever you decide to do.

Thanks @dancer I appreciate your comments. I will hopefully be out most of day between 09.00 and 16.00 walking etc. i do tend to reduce my bolus slightly but to compensate for potential lower BG I normally take more carbs on board, sweets maybe some choccy digestives, naughty I know:angelic::angelic:
