What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

11.6 as Dawn was streaking along the sky...and woke me up after a near sleepless night. Partly coughing and partly with my eyes being so itchy the last few days, I suppose sweating a bit with this bug whatever it it. I was using my eye drops, and the steroid eyedrops for the laser treatment which are about to be finished today. So it has been difficult to see to read. Finally last night (around 1am) I went for a shower and sat under there an hour.

Made a cuppa and came on here for a bit until the sand man came...which he did...but then Dawn woke me up pretty soon after. So I wasn’t pleased with her. But I took that fbg reading of 11.6. However my finger said here’s all the blood you need and more, now leave me alone for the day.....

The sandman deigned to come a second time and I have woken up just now 7:30 am, but I am going to sleep again. Popeye is now finding electric blanket too warm and so is sleeping on the edge....but it’s on low and set for just an hour each time and relaxes me....perchance to sleep...

Goodnight morning. Catch you later. I need to be okay for my appointments next week, especially Diabetic Retinopathy Screening....

Be good! Not really, ‘cos life is too short. Take care. Have some fun. I am hoping that stranger called Sun comes to visit because he warms up the potting shed beautifully and that is a lovely relaxing heat....

I can't tell if this is supposed to be a Suzuki, or a BSA Lightning. Or, going by the cap, a Moto Guzzi?

Sorry, can’t see the image on my IPad

Not pleasant - itchy eyes are a **** nuisance- I have dry eye syndrome (got to love the medico who decided that it was a syndrome) and it fluctuates between “all is calm, all is normal” to “get these sand sculptured eyballs out of my head and peel them with rusty old razor blade” - sort of thing.
Sitting under the shower for an hour - nice.
Hope that you sleep better on the next cycle.

Lets hope you can catch up on sleep gennepher...vital to get yourself well & fit for your appointment next week

Morning All. 6.7 today which is not good. The only reason I can think of eating about 6 strawberries after supper. Couldnt help myself but I have noticed fruit even berries send me soaring.
@gennepher hope today is better for you and you feel a little better.
Have a good Friday everyone. Stay well, stay safe.

Hug is for the mystery and worry of higher numbers. I seem to recall you enjoy fruit so it would be a great shame if the strawberries were the cause. Perhaps the eye treatment played a part via stress and or the actual medication. As you always say, stay well, stay safe.

You can share your location on Google Maps, handy when a group are doing different things and then meeting up later - or when in convoys driving to airports - or if you are a spy or just nosey.

Wonder wheel of fortune cookies and palm readings gave forth a 5.4 this morning.

The beach in Playa Blanca is quite pleasant; nice sand, wonderful views, sea to swim in if you are inclined, a prom full of shops selling ice cream, child attractive garbage and you can amuse yourself watching the hourly ferry coming over from Fueteventura.
Knowledge point - when the ferry turns to back into dock, it sends a nice tsunami up the beach.
Mrs Miggins and Little Miss Pamplemousse were not amused - the twins were a bit more vocal about the whole deal, probably because as they are only the size of minions they got a more vivid experience.
The conversation in the car going back to the house was all about whose nappy caught the most sand and shoes.

Ants, little black ants, are a great source of entertainment. If you are a certain age you can kneel on the floor in a circle, hands of the ground and burble away at how funny it is to watch ants wandering over your hands and between your fingers. You can even investigate the idea that ants can be caught in a fishing net. It’s even more fun when you discover that a large pot containing some tropical plant out on the balcony is the source of many of the ants and that the soil is so dry that it can be quickly scooped out and dumped on the floor when four little hands are involved.

Ants, although a great source of ongoing entertainment, are not as nearly as interesting as the capture, in a large glass jug, as a giant cockroach. Only three, as far as we know, since we have been here have been brave enough to venture forth and each time they have been trapped, displayed in said jug; the focus of wonder and conversation until at last thrown over the balcony - perhaps there is only one and it just keeps coming home - from the size of it, it must be a hundred years old - or is that lobsters?

Our poor little Hugo got stung on his nose last night. He’s still feeling sorry for himself and milking it. But being a brave boy

I woke to a 6.5 on my testery box this morning. Does anyone ever stop experimenting with ratios ?

I tried to insert a pic of hugo but my phone isn’t playing

Thank you very much for the good wishes.

Fruit raises my levels quite a bit, BUT I think when I have them with double cream that stops them raising so much. 6 strawberries would have been two much for me. However one or two (depending on size, some are large) thinly sliced with some double cream on, don’t impact too badly.
And I add a teaspoon seeds on top.

Not as nice as eating sunkissed strawberries from the garden I admit.

Take care x

5.3 this morning -still mirroring you on using up these numbers @Bildad
@dunelm cracking post as always, it made me remember the fascination with ants that all little children have - I can even remember my own utter absorbtion in their doings.
@PenguinMum hugs for the higher than hoped for fbg but really, you’ve had a few days of stress and I think the effects on bg are less immediate than eating cake, more of a lag effect. I really hope its not the strawberries.

I am sure those people have never been the recipient of dry eyes themselves....
Sitting under the shower with dry, itchy, sand encrusted eyeballs is BLISS....eyedrops are less help and last all of minutes if I am lucky.

Thanks, I got another hour’s sleep.
My wall thermometer says Humidity is 86% (I live not far from the sea, as the crow flies), and so going to make a cuppa and I am out in the garden on swing or in potting shed when I need more sleep.

Late posting this morning. 5.8 - am pleased its another reading in the 5s. Have had a lovely time dog walking in the sunshine and then reading the paper and having another Nespresso. Can't put off work any longer though - my pile of stuff I really must do is getting higher and higher. Today is my admin day - looks as though I will be working into the evening.

I have a feeling that the name of the architects who rebuilt the town after the great fire would also get the asterisk treatment also as they were the ******* Brothers.

Yup I thought so.

Now I am off to Google those guys because I am as curious as a cat!

Thank you for the poem :) -- but oh my goodness that last line! ^. .^ !!!!!
