What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Oh, I love his little half black half white toe! How sweet. :)

The KittenCat isn't a big fan of YouTube either, unless I play one of those videos made for cats, and then as soon as she realizes she can't smell the prey or catch it she is done with it.

I don’t think cats are fooled nowadays. I think cats as a species have assimilated the idea that humans watch these flatscreen moving pictures...yet years ago, and I am talking about the 1960’s, cats were fascinated by the television and used to go round the back to see where the pictures disappeared to, and then come round to the front again. And even tried to catch the flying birds...

Then finally cats decided a television was only good for warmth and lay on the top (it was wide enough then), with a back leg and front leg and tail dangling in front of the entire screen....

At 5:45 this morning fbg was 11.1

I will take that as I am not well.

Had to cancel today’s activities.

I feel fine in bed (ish) as long as I am not moving, sleeping, not having a serious bout of coughing (thank you @PenguinMum suggesting a cube of chocolate slowly melted on the tongue would help with that, and it does, much better than cough sweets), but going to make a cuppa tea finishes me off....it is like trying to crawl up Mount Everest...

On a very serious note, and I hadn’t realised this. On a different thread @Viv19 suggested something. She suggested I might need to balance out diabetic meds. This was my reply to her on the other thread.

I was probably given that piece of paper about 4 years ago. I never filed it because I knew I would forget about it, but it was pinned on my kitchen wall along with dozens of other pieces of paper.

You can damage some of your internal organs if you continue to take some meds, not just diabetic ones, and you are not well and not drinking enough water.

If anyone asks me I can photograph it and put it on here. It is in the kitchen and I am in my bed where I am staying for the mo.

oh poor you, hope you´ll soon be fine again

5.6 which I'm ecstatic about having been living it up in Liverpool for 2 days. I try and make the best choices eating out but you just dont know what's lurking in food when you dont cook it yourself. Had an amazing time. The weather was kind too and got to spend quality time with my girlfriend. Don't see her very often so it was really nice. The Shankly Hotel could not have been more perfect. Great location too. The Cavern had a great vibe for our evening out. I love the Liverpool accent too. And the people are so friendly and funny. Took a wrong turn, ended up almost in the mersey! In the mersey tunnel! Went miles out of our way it felt like and had to pay for the privilege! Then the nice guy on the toll on the way back felt sorry for us and let us off. Kind people too!

Definitely not Gum and Gummer then. Have the Ostrich or Buffalo burgers we feed our striplings been implicated in #BSEgate? Is mad Ostrich disease a thing yet? One finds keeping on trend with food news so tiresome. At least Moore's law gives an 18 month to 2 year period to adjust. Will the good men and true of your UK neck of the woods be banned from chanting Huawei the lads? All so very vexatious on the spirit don't you find?

At a restaurant in Nairobi several years ago I sampled a number of exotic dishes and Ostrich, mad or otherwise, was one. Since then I have had several encounters with that full flavoured, lean and quick filling protein - I have no idea if I am mad or not as I can’t find a suitable scale of measurement. Having had a reindeer burger with whale meat last year - Norwegian surf and turf or perhaps a good laugh at the tourists, the ostrich wins heads down.
I thought that Moore’s Law was dead and nanotechnology and quantum computers will result in giant leaps- how does that work?
The thing about Geordie is that apart from such phrases as “kanny Bonny gannin” and “lang gazintaz” it’s all Chinese for this Yorkshire lad.

Another 6.2 this morning. If my meter is stuck there, there are worse numbers it could be stuck on. I am up before dawn again; I used to do that only for a horse show. Having fallen in love with Blandford Forum yesterday, I spent the rest of the evening looking for similar towns over here, that I might possibly be able to move to. A friend and I discussed New England as a possibility. I want a small town, where I can walk out of my front door and turn one way and walk to a grocery store; turn the other way and walk to a doctor; cross the street and walk to a church and/or the library. Some place with sidewalks. Doesn't seem like a lot to ask, but is evidently more than most town planners ever planned for.
Good luck with your search.

Hi Saskia I have been thinking today about your move. New England sounds wonderful but how far would it be from where you are now and would it be colder? The KC wouldnt like that I suspect. I gather it's spread over six states so I guess some are more hospitable than others. I would of course prefer you came to settle in Blandford which though two counties away I could come and visit occasionally. Its a big decision for you.

New England
Here where the wind is always north-north-east
And children learn to walk on frozen toes,
Wonder begets an envy of all those
Who boil elsewhere with such a lyric yeast
Of love that you will hear them at a feast
Where demons would appeal for some repose,
Still clamoring where the chalice overflows
And crying wildest who have drunk the least.
Passion is here a soilure of the wits,
We're told, and Love a cross for them to bear;
Joy shivers in the corner where she knits
And Conscience always has the rocking-chair,
Cheerful as when she tortured into fits
The first cat that was ever killed by Care.

They will both heal with all the love they are surrounded with I have no doubt. How is your daughter and son in law? How is the other dog also?

Thank you for asking, Daughter is looking dreadful - that’s why I had the girls over last night so shecould hopefully get a good sleep. Sil is being stoic, not sure how he’s doing really. Orher dog was also a worry, she hasn’t been well and has been in the vet hosp since Sunday - they operated and found a fluffy ( gooey now) toy duck’s head in her intestine. She’s normally such a fussy eater! She came home this evening so that’s a relief - they had thought it was something a lot more serious . Daughter played the Headspace sleep music to her eldest daughter tonight and she went straight off to sleep - first time for months. I think things will start to get better for everyone now. It’s a half term nobody will forget soon.
I do hope you’ve managed to have a restful day today, our best laid plans often go awry, but it’s so important to give yourself a proper recovery period.

Po - thank you so much for typing out this long post. You have set it out so clearly. I shall copy your notes and print them off. They will be absolutely invaluable.

Managed to stay mostly relaxed yesterday and was 5.5 this morning. So it looks like staying tranquil and not triggering the cortisol is really important for me.

Edited to change OK to Po - it's that autocorrect again.
You are most welcome Krystyna.
I have found it a great help over the last three months.
My hope is that we can get others to experience the benificial effects of meditation.

good evening all :)

was 4.8 this morning

been out all day volunteering so I'm very late posting :sorry:

I bought some odds and ends of knitting wool , mr. gee sighed deeply ;) it's not at if I don't have any yarn :hilarious:

I have just finished blocking a 'pi' shawl I knitted, I had some jigsaw style mats for pinning things out but it's difficult to keep everything flat so I bought a foam yoga mat from the charity shop and this was the first time I tried using that, it worked pretty well,

It has rained all day again today, good job we got some garden work done yesterday, we managed to get the grass cut at mum's and the bit of strimming we did at home raked up.

Hope your day treated you well :)

Wow, I have just fallen in love ...

I was Google-mapping Dorset while reading my favorite D*** Francis novel, 10-lb. Penalty and I discovered Blandford Forum. Wow. What a lovely place. Wish I could retire there. Haha they asterisked-out his name again!

I have a feeling that the name of the architects who rebuilt the town after the great fire would also get the asterisk treatment also as they were the ******* Brothers.

Yup I thought so.

I generally do but once in a while i am lazy and didn’t realize the fluctuation can be that big. Lesson learnt.... good day Po. Oh about the pic - thanks... am a hobby potter.. this was from a few years ago when i was just beginning to learn... i make simple pieces for gifting or selling to friends and raise funds for charities... you can follow me on instagram if interested . Hi Sastry

You say ... "I make simple pieces" Well my friend, I would not call your amazing pieces simple. Beautifully crafted, maybe.
I salute you for the fund raising work you do.

No absolutely not True Blue...no shows can be a problem in our NHS but we need to ascertain the reason...some are unavoidable & not necessarily the patients fault...when I first became ill I had intensive intravenous antibiotics for two weeks at our local hospital and so many clinic appointments my head was spinning...when I was home & had recovered a little I realised I had been sent a date for a clinic appointment...I had no idea & did not attend...later when I checked my patient record I was marked as not attending...I made my GP amend that...it would be better if we had patients confirm they would be attending...if not the appointment is offered to others

My doc's office does a robot-call reminder a day or two before an appointment to remind me/confirm the appointment. Of course that doesn't guarantee I will show up but it does remind me. I think some offices charge if you don't show up or don't cancel with a 24 hours' notice.
