What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

So most of yesterday I toiled away at my computer and only did 6K steps instead of my usual 14K steps. Last night 5.1 and this morning an amazing 4.8.

@poemagraphic - my meter is sitting there looking very smug. What on earth is it telling me - that if I am almost completely inactive I will have wonderful fbs. Surely not.

I did keep calm and meditate and was able to stay tranquil all day and evening when normally I would be stressed over my retinal clinic appointments today. I also actually managed to do loads more paperwork than I would have normally.

I am one of those people who always looks calm on the outside and I think of myself and laid back. But I am realising now that at times I am stressed out and far from tranquil - which does impact my bs.

Pleased for you that all is on the mend and interesting to read that by not taking some of your meds and not eating that your blood sugar readings are lower and that your blood pressure is normalised. What could that lead to?

Thank you very much.

It seems I have a chance to do something with this. Build up on it slowly, be very mindful on what I eat and when. In a sense I am lucky that I live on my own, and I am not tempted by others food or opinions. And I don't have a television so I don't see adverts tempting me or awakening chemical taste buds I wasn't aware of...

You have a good day!

Another of my store of 5's used up, 5.3 this morning. The vet trip yesterday only cost £25 that was for her to have a look and tell me to come back in a week!
I am not sure if we are due to get the heatwave here it is a little over at at the moment but who knows what is in store for later. I have beans to plant out and some tomatoes so I hope it is not too hot.

Interesting isn’t it - the goings on inside our bodies. A central part of living organisms is that they need variability and randomness and certain extreme stressors, otherwise they become fragile.
I think that this is why the idea of doing some high intensity interval training, walking (with random bits of running - or staggering) and then having a day or so off every now and again is better than going to the gym and mechanically doing the same thing over and over again. Similarly, experiencing cold, having a sauna and also fasting stresses the body and builds up resistance and perhaps jolts the immune system.
I am pretty sure that humans are not designed around the idea of “three meals a day”, food pyramids and fitness programmes.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen. This greeting does not include politicians, those expense fiddling, self serving etc etc etc....

Have a great Saturday everyone. Happy and safe travels and stay safe and well.

Thank you Debs. It's so nice of you to comment.
It seems to me the blogs do not get much attention. That is a shame really.

I'm not sure about figures but I think you are right. Maybe one of the mods might be able to elaborate on stats. But you can always add your poems to your daily fbs comment. As you have done here. I like this thread for its allowance to write lots! I myself have been pretty quiet lately as so much going on here but my project is almost done and I feel some poetry coming on :-)

Yes - I do think you are right. I will experiment and add a bit of randomness.and variability as I may have got a bit 'stuck in a rut'.

I must say though that my autocorrect is exhibiting extreme randomness and variability as it diligently tries to rewrite my posts.

So many posts to catch up on. 5.5 for me this morning. We are trying to get over some terrible news yesterday. My daughter and her family ( husband, 2 daughters of 8 and 6 plus 2 Great Danes) have been away camping for the weekend. Their youngest dog a rescue pup called Huxley got spooked by something in the night and ended up biting the 6yo face. She is fine - was sent home from hospital with antibiotics and calpol and they dont think there’ll be much scarring. I am shaking just thinking about what might have been.
The rescue home Huxley came from said they couldn’t take him back as he could never be rehomed now so after much discussion with them and the vet and the family they had to take the decision to say goodbye to him and let the vet put him to sleep.
She had already made an appointment with a dog whisperer to visit on Wed to help with his boisterousness. We were all of the opinion that he’d been taken fromhis mother too early by some of his problems, hard to say with rescue dogs, but he’d never shown signs of aggression. Even that night, it wasn’t a vicious frenzied attack, it was a scared reaction but sadly not something that anyone could afford a repetition of.
It feels like a day of mourning. My granddaughter is quite perky, her older sister seemed more upset but they had a lot of cuddles and a good talk about love and loss and I’m sure they’ll be fine.
Phew! Will continue reading everyone’s posts now.
What a sad post @DJC3 I hope your granddaughter is ok. Sorry to hear about Huxley but the right decision was made. Not an easy one at all. Massive hugs.

Some awesome pics, @poemagraphic .

Probably above my skill set
( and patience, if I'm honest..) but i shall read up later on the magic involved...thanks for the post
I have an app on my phone. Adobe photoshop Express. Free. I only take pics with my mobile but it's great for enhancing.

and i suppose the MOOD V BG, makes sense.

i know when my GB's are lowering OR high.:bookworm:
that affects my mood..as does the stressing and anxiety about NOTHING at all...:banghead:
( now add in stressing that you'll stress about the numbers in the morning... )

Perfect combo for a BG Storm i'd say.
Throw in a bad nights sleep, as well..and it's a BG Tornado.:***:

Today FBG 6.6...:watching:..mmmhhh

(motorcycle...so no traffic stress, just a big cheesy grin at those stuck in the jams...Mmwwhhhaaahaha :D)

so was it THAT early start..?
Was it the vodka N tonic last night...?
The hefty meal early part of the evening, slowly spiking late on..?

My moneys on the sweetener*...usually hermesetas,
but got NONE :bigtears:
so using the kitchen stores Canderel...:sorry:

*probably not, but who wants to go straight to the 'good' stuff when banishing foods items..:hilarious:
** yes i'm aware Vodka is not a food item, but, please... don't take away the magic..:inpain:

Carbs in vodka equals zero. Happy days.

I am certain that for me, meditation works wonders. I am convinced that I would not have had the results I have had in the last couple of months without it. I bath in a sea of tranquillity

I have to turn my mobile sideways to see signatures. Oh my yours is impressive! Good job Po. When is your next hba1c?

Clothes Pegs. A purchase of them took place yesterday, of various shapes and colours, to supplement the ones already residing in a basket in the towel cupboard. They can be used to peg down towels on sun loungers; there is a constant and pleasant breeze in Lands Are Grotty.

However, clipping down towels round the pool is such a waste of a good resource when you are two years old. Sealed in their plastic packs, they can be rattled, banged, squeezed and slid along tiled floors. Sprung from their enclosures they become a source of great debate when clipped to table ends, door handles, chair legs, kitchen handles, toys, rubbish bin foot pedals etc.
As I write this, Mayhem has just wandered into the kitchen, sunglasses on, upside down, naked doll in hand, wrapped in its baby blanked and picked up a green peg, pinned it to the baby blanket and wandered out - no words, a bare flick of her hair, nose in the air, being a fashionista.

Oh yes, a troubled sleep due to lower back whinging about how badly a hand it had been dealt with for all these years; it was 1975, get over it. The wheel of sympathy and protests took the side of lower back, stuck out it’s notional tongue and blew a 5.9 in my general direction.

Toddler tossing - a great new game:
Ingredients and tools;
A swimming pool (obviously, it only works once on other surfaces).
Agreeable toddlers (one each if possible but you can take turns).
Anti UVB swim suits (optional but it works for longer).
Swim nappies (very necessary for toddlers who are philosophers and have no time for trivia).
Upper body buoyancy vests (arm bands work as well)
Factor 9,000 waterproof sun screen.

Rules:
Teams of two, one in the pool, one on the side.
The team member on the side of the pool (the pitcher) holds to toddler firmly but gently, with toddler facing the team member in the pool (the catcher).
The pitcher recites the incantation, “ready....steady...go” and tosses the toddler towards the catcher.
The catcher catches the toddler to control decent into the water and, depending upon the skill of the toddler, dips head under water.
Toddler screams with laughter and shouts, “again” - or, if you are Chaos and Mayhem, “more”.
When all team members are worn out, let the toddlers just float about in the pool.

Happy Wednesday everyone, hope someone has put our bins out for emptying.
You need to patent this game. It's hilarious.

Morning all. Seems ages since I last posted. Mum has now had a hip replacement which at 90 with Alzheimer's is an achievement in itself. First hurdle over. Early days and not sure what will happen next. Just off back to the hospital so may be out of touch for a while. Sorry 'I haven't had time to read though all your recent posts but I wish you all well. :)
Hope you mum makes a swift recovery following her hip op. I didnt comment on your earlier post as I was hoping to read an update from you in my 433 pending messages! Not always easy to keep up especially when you have so much going on. Thinking of you and your mum.

Hi Krystyna its great you are seeing this consultant earlier. I had my first Lucentis injection this morning and it was all ok. I remembered when I got there that when I had Uevitis years ago I was allergic to the drops and had to have preservative free ones. So they gave me gentler everything and used something other than iodine to clean the area. When I got up afterwards to walk to the waiting area to meet my sons I felt like I was walking on giant marshmallows. I am not good with any anaesthetic. It has been a bit stingy and gritty but is improving as the day has worn on. I found it best to lie on the sofa with my eyes closed listening to the radio. I have the transparent eye mask till tomo. I wish you all the best and I couldnt agree more thank God they have these injections now. I gather they cost £600 each and today there were two “no shows” which isnt good.

I'm relieved that's over for you! Been sitting on the edge of my chair catching up with 5 days of messages waiting to see an update! It's gone well thankfully. Hope you are feeling ok today @PenguinMum

Sitting here catching up on 433 messages. 2 hours in and still 54 to go! I'm going to leave it here and catch up next time I log on. Enjoyable thread. But it's actually about fbs so I had better add mine. 5.6 today. Crustless quiche salad. Glass of red and some mixed nuts for dinner so thought it would be higher tbh.

Today's agenda is undercoating a banister. 2 hours to dry so during that time I'm polishing laminate floor. Lots of it! Then glossing said banister. Almost there now with our renovation. Rendering postponed due to weather so fingers crossed sun shines next week. House will then be complete and ready for sale. I will have more spare time which I'm looking forward too. Been a very busy few weeks.

Working with my surgery again week after next as diabetes week. Need to prep. But got my box of leaflets all ready so shouldn't need to do too much.

Have a good weekend everyone.
