Morning all,
Hope we're well.
Ate fish for lunch and for supper yesterday and snuck in a couple of Japanese mushroom biscuits so I'm amazed by 3.8 this morning.
Just had a Hungarian biscuit and going back to bed. See you later

@MeiChanski - One of our family munchkins has loved to build things, since every she started to play independently. Lego and Duplo makes things very simple. There are years of fun, and gifts there!

Whilst she's not quite ready for the Pitzler or RIBA prizes, some of her builds are very "creative".

Top tip: in the early days lego play in the playpen helps keep the grown-ups happy - diminished chances of stepping on a brick. :)

Well have just resurfaced from the most horrendous 48 hours. I had a cough start the middle of last week, but then started to feel sick on Friday morning. Without too many details my body now feels like it has done a few rounds with a champion boxer. The Libre was an absolute godsend enabling me to inject every 2 hours. The Keto urine strips a pain in the neck as I could hardly wee! (note to self get some for blood meter) They were highish but I managed to cope by sipping water and injecting. The thought of going to hospital and spending time on a trolley under strip lighting rather than crawling back to my own bed did not appeal.
Today I have eaten 2 bits of toast and had 2 cups of tea. My husband is thrilled. Managed to keep my levels under 10 which am pleased with under the circumstances. I did a few blood glucose readings along the way but they were totally in tune with the Libre. Now to get out of bed, shower and shuffle downstairs. Oh and the rain has ceased hammering down, so onwards and upwards!

Woke on an 8 not too bad for a lie in following a night of food indulgence.

Dexcom woke me at 5.30 this morning to inform me that the 2 ginger nut biscuits before bed last night wasn’t sufficient.
Jelly babies to the rescue.
Fast forward to 6.30 and was awoken again. Far more pleasantly this time. Grandkids had a sleepover last night and at 6.30 it was get in the big bed time.:).
It’s been hectic since then, but they’ve just been collected so we can now relax.
@becca59 . Take it easy. Hopefully you’ll be back to normal before too long.
Planning on hitting the gym later. A swollen left knee and a tight right hamstring could both lead to some funny looks later.:wideyed::wideyed:

What’s going on????? @LooperCat and @Kim Possible !!!!?????? Confused the what’s it out of me.

Bright and sunny here this morning and was fairly good yesterday made even better by my daughters team winning 5-0, just winning would have been amazing ( they’re not the best football team) but 5-0!!!! And the opposition weren’t that bad either, I think they all must have had readybrekk for breakfast or something, they were like a different team. They may have finally ‘clicked’

BGs have been good too

Morning folks hope you are all having a good weekend

I had the 24 hour blood pressure monitor on yesterday and overnight. going off every 20 mins until 10pm then every hour during the night. It was actually not that bad

Unlike my BG which at 2am this morning was horrendous at 16.2. All I had for dinner last night was 5 pieces of pakora from local takeaway which I bolused for as 40 grammes of carbs. I then had half a portion on chicken tikka bhuna and a fairly smallish piece of nan bread. I again bolused for this at 40 grammes. During the vening I also had about half bottle of dry white wine, number 2 on the dry scale.

I appreciate that there will be no definitive answer as to how many carbs are in a chicken tikka Bhuna, it will vary from takeaways but I would have thought that this and a small piece of nan bread would not exceed 40g of carbs. same with the pakora
Are my calculations that far out. I did dual bolus for this over a 4 hour period and BG during the evening were OK at around 7.5. Going to bed it had crept up slightly to BG of 8.1.

I know the fat content will cause delays in rises of BG, but to double overnight seems a bit strange

Any thoughts on the carb contents, what i can do differently, maybe even what i could eat differently. I do love my Indian food from the local takeaway

Thanks in advance

@smc4761 . Good to hear the monitoring went fairly well.
Could the high BS be down to the disruption/ stress / inconvenience of the monitor doing it’s reading throughout the evening.
As we know it doesn’t take much to upset the T1 apple cart.

@smc4761 all I can suggest is you’ll have to try it all over again and up the carb/bolus amounts until you get it right. Of course it could be what therower suggests or it could been the protein/fat or the hidden extra carbs. :meh:

A conversation about being less easy to track down on the internet, basically :)

Makes perfect sense to me...!

Though I had to google the name @Kim Possible . & it pulled up a sort of millennial teenage mutant ninja "Buffy?"

Useful regarding who to tag, regarding future relivant topics.. ;)

Definitely back on the double bolus, slightly raised basal for Sunday mornings! I'll be interested to see if Tuesday's sudden clinic nurse's appointment includes an Hba1c and if this tactic has helped at all in the overall average.

Having noted on another thread that my clinic issued meter is about to be discontinued (Glucomen LX2) I'll definitely be raising that as something to talk about as well especially if when I go to collect my repeat prescription on Monday night there is a test strip crisis!

I like the names @LooperCat and @Kim Possible !

I will be changing my avatar shortly too, as I use this current one on my Facebook account sometimes. The green circle is the Loop logo.

In other news, Libre sensor failed at just five days in, although my MiaoMiao/Spike rig is still reading it. Sadly the calibration seems to have drifted and I woke on an indicated 4.6 - tested as I felt wobbly and it came back as a 2.8 :banghead: Hey ho, all part of D-life! Three dextrose tabs and a cheeky peanut butter sandwich (see, I am human after all) for which I’ve now insulinated, and all is good. Back to rehearsing for my practical exams in a couple of weeks. I’ve borrowed a resuscitation doll and the ventilation gear so can practice to my heart’s content at home. There’s certain things we have to make sure we not only do, but verbalise, so I’ve written a sort of script to run through. Complete with laminated picture of a defibrillator and a selection of ECG rhythms to interpret.

I’ve also got to practice my “secondary survey” skills but need an unconscious body for that - husband is willing to let me practice on him but seems to find it hard to remain professional ;) I only have to wave my stethoscope at him and he gets that glint in his eye  Flattering but not helpful :D

Bit of a post hypo headache now, so will chuck some nurofen down my neck and crack on, much as I’d like to wallow on the sofa with my book. Catch you later x

Hello friends,
My blood glucose was absolutely perfect - 6.1 this morning. With catching up, I guess it’s only cocktail making that is a cause of concern. I’ll watch youtube on how to make the best cocktails, I am drooling over a beautiful tropical flavour cocktail, ;) I see new names and I thought new friends who dis.
I did a basal test and my basal isn’t causing havoc, so another hypo mystery.

@LooperCat I have deliberately not used this avatar anywhere else, except with my diabetes-related blog. I am Japes or some variation of it on other forums.

Both my names are too unusual both as names and in their spellings for casual use on the internet and given I work in a relatively specialised field in education I'd be far too easy to identify by students! Just done one of my occasional checks and the only things which now come up for my name, correctly spelt, are organist related ones and a family history connection which I've been unable to persuade the perpetrator to remove. I was happy to share the information, as we could fill missing gaps in each other's work, but I wasn't expecting every last e-mail to be published on the internet!

Ironically, my names in their more common spellings bring up a diabetes-related death story!! Bad handwriting led to a wrong insulin dose in hospital kind of thing.

You could tell him to keep his eyes closed. Not uncommon in unconscious bodies. Or you could approach him with the steth in one hand and a rubber hammer in the other and tell him you'll make things a bit more realistic if he doesn't start behaving like an unconscious body.
If it fails you can at least suffer your headaches together afterwards.

My actual surname is (as far as I know) only shared with my husband, as it’s one we put together after we married. A google search only comes up with me or him. And as I’m on the road to becoming a healthcare professional, I’m taking precautions now to help keep my online presence lower key than it has been. Not that I’ve got anything to hide, but in these politically charged times, I wouldn’t want my employment chances harmed if the interviewer happened to do a search for me and find that politically we’re poles apart. Would an ardent Brexitter choose to employ a vocal and very politically active Remainer, and vice versa? This country is so politically divided just now, that I’m adopting a more prudent approach to my online identity.
