Was always pretty good treat wise, but at Christmas always tended to splurge a bit, any advice on splurging a bit christmas day and beyond
Thanks everyone , really appreciate advice, I'm on a fixed dose Basel-bolus , but have a sliding scale if needed , think I'll just take it as it comes, I'll probably no crave the usual stuff as I'm well into a routine but can adjust a wee bit if I need to
@Jaylee, yup Mexico - dream car, so if ye want to set up a crowd fund I'll gladly accept
I'm new too and had the same thougts! What will happen at christmas? There are so many great foods and most of them are full of carbs...Was always pretty good treat wise, but at Christmas always tended to splurge a bit, any advice on splurging a bit christmas day and beyond

Each diabetic will have to make their own decisions about food over the festive season. The options range from remaining strict on carbs/diet, to eating at least a little of what everyone else is eating.
The major difference for those on Insulin is that they have to make that decision at the time they take their Bolus.
It is fairly easy for me, since I'm a Type 2 on no medications and will be mainly eating at home - so I will eat as usual. I have been to an early Xmas party at a neighbour's and managed to restrain myself to just drinking red wine and just eating cheese, cocktail onions and other very low carb hordevres since no meat/fish was available.
I'd beg to differ re the idea that as long as type 1s bolus for carbs then they will be fine. I know some guys can do this and have a smooth ride but for me I cannot 'think like a pancreas' and get it right. Each diabetic will have to make their own decisions about food over the festive season.
