Calf muscle pain?

Lately, I am experiencing a lot of calf muscle pain. Also the crus ( the muscle on the front of the tibia) and wondered if this was Type 2 related? The pain starts after Mild/medium exercise/work.

If you have got active and started exercising more than you were before. You will be feeling pain if you don't leave enough time to rest and adjust. May feel almost like shin splints. Try different exercises and return to it in a week or so.

Your profile is incomplete, so we don't know whether you are diabetic, or not, and which type of diabetes, if you are.
That information will have a bearing on the answers you receive...

However, a few things may also be affecting your symptoms.
- what medication you are on (for instance, Metformin may cause B12 deficiency and statins may, over time, give symptoms that affect the lower leg area)
- what diet you are on (for instance, keto and low carbing may affect electrolyte balance which can result in cramping, if not handled correctly)
- there are other causes of the pain you describe, from unsupportive shoes and over/under pronation to bad gait and posture.

I would suggest seeing a medical professional, if possible, along with investigating the various possibilities yourself.

There are so many potential causes for these aches and pains from too much exercise, to cramp, to a strain, to a thrombosis, to being nerve related, or even related to smoking if you happen to do that, or have done in the past.

As @Brunneria suggests a quick check over is on the cards, I think.

It could be lactic acid buildup. If it subsides fairly quickly then it may indicate poor circulation problems. Alternatively some medications can increase lactic acid, and Metormin is one of those. Spasms of the calf muscle could be showing an electrolyte imbalance. but Crus spasms are not very common.

I am type 2 tablet controlled with metformin 1000mg a day and no special diet needs

sorry Brunneria should have said I am t2 and I take a B12 suppliment daily.

Its really most likely to be a nock from increasing exercise. Im currently hobbling from Peronium Tendonitus on my calf. Thats basically tendons complaining from being asked to work after years of not being used that much.

My foot is pain free, but it starts up when i walk or run beyond a curtain distance shooting pains running up by calf from the outside of my foot. Thats the tendon i have strained but there are several all over your calf muscle.

Rest it and build up exercise slowly to allow your body to adapt if your going from little activity to medium/high activity. (especially impact stuff like running)
