Lately, I am experiencing a lot of calf muscle pain. Also the crus ( the muscle on the front of the tibia) and wondered if this was Type 2 related? The pain starts after Mild/medium exercise/work.
It could be lactic acid buildup. If it subsides fairly quickly then it may indicate poor circulation problems. Alternatively some medications can increase lactic acid, and Metormin is one of those. Spasms of the calf muscle could be showing an electrolyte imbalance. but Crus spasms are not very common.Lately, I am experiencing a lot of calf muscle pain. However, a few things may also be affecting your symptoms.
- what medication you are on (for instance, Metformin may cause B12 deficiency and statins may, over time, give symptoms that affect the lower leg area)
- what diet you are on (for instance, keto and low carbing may affect electrolyte balance which can result in cramping, if not handled correctly)
- there are other causes of the pain you describe, from unsupportive shoes and over/under pronation to bad gait and posture.
I would suggest seeing a medical professional, if possible, along with investigating the various possibilities yourself.
