What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good Morning and a not surprising 6.2 only comment is that of @OldButBold . Kids around last night and Mrs MC cooked a Chick Pea Quiche so Short Crust Pastry also a Salmon and Cream Cheese Puff Pastry Roll, Served with Rice, Peas, Salad, then for afters a mixed fruit crumble and Cheese and Biscuits. Although Mrs MC was quite prepared to cook me versions without the Short Crust on the Quiche and without the Crumble on the Crumble and warned me against the Puff Pastry I did what so many guys do, ignored her :banghead: she always knows best, I never learn.

Last night Blood readings went like this. 5.5 before dinner, 5.0 at 2 hours later, 5.2 at 3 hours later, 5.4 before bed at 2 am. thought I had got away with it, heaven knows what they must have been during the night, thus the 6.2

Oh, there were also a few glasses of red wine, actually 3/4 of a bottle, I blame the good company and music making.

Busy day today checking MIL bungalow, getting clothes to the nursing home and MIL visit, that's most of the day gone.

Welcome @blacknjr to the wonderful friendly mix of madness that resides here.

@trick60 and @ianpspurs i found a very old Brass version in my shed the other day that you had to pump, I suspect Parafin, to get it working, they always used to scare the living daylights out of me, much like Tilley Lamps did.

Make the most of your day one and all.

Ohhh ... Lovely. My favorite of yours so far.
Thank you for posting it.
I hope you and @Muddy Cyclist really will think about a calendar ... I would love to have this, and the holly tree and fence,
up on my wall.
Maybe the film could have a scene about calendars?
:)

These wonderful ladies are often more than willing to share their wisdom on how to create the optimal environment
Indeed when Mr PM and I got engaged his mum gave me some pointers. Always starch the collars of his work shirts (and always buy white), polish his shoes on a Sunday evening and leave by the door and never ever give him meat or fish on the bone. I completely ignored all of that but MIL and I became very good friends despite that. Mr PM went through a transition period but it all worked out in the end.

Morning All. 5.6 so all is still acceptable. Had a nice catch up with No 2 son and ignored the tv all evening. Out to lunch with some old friends today which will be a long affair as I am picking up two of them and driving to the metropolis. Spending another evening with son but my food will have to be light either at lunch or evening.
@DJC3 great news about your offer hope it all works out. @SlimLizzy hugs for the freezer issues hope they replace it pronto. @trick60 happy second half of Saturday. @blacknjr welcome to our cosy sometimes mad corner. @SaskiaKC I really dont know about foam mattresses and toxicity but agree with @jjraak comfy shoes and comfy bed are two essentials. Last but not least thank you @gennepher for the stunning painting.
Have a great Saturday everyone. Stay well, stay safe.

@Muddy Cyclist meant to say your evening sounded convivial and delicious and that fbg wasnt too bad considering.
Thanks PM, but I think zero carb day today as we are out for Sunday Lunch at our local pub with friends on Sunday so need to be careful, although there is still some of that Crumble tempting me in the fridge.

Good morning everyone and all the non-EU white rabbits from the dark and dangerous north.

The wonder wheel of a long road with a disappointing ending at 2300 (or later if you were eating Brussels) came in at 4.7 this a.m.

My carnivour month went very well and although tricky when eating out was easy to do and so satiating that I sometimes skipped eating until dinner. Will ponder on continuing for a while and see what happens.
Morrisons (the great north alternative to Waitrose, who find it a bit cold here) are flogging beef burgers enriched with bone marrow. They come in a pair (well a tray really) and about 115g each, which is a bit more than my supposed 75g protein limit for good health but it was excellent. Second one for dinner tonight. I really ought to have chopped a bit off each and had over three days but hey!

Movement is afoot, watambezi (people on the move) and bahati nzuri (good fortune) to @ianpspurs and also to @SaskiaKC .
I am just trying it envisage what a 3/4 emptied wine bottle looks like @Muddy Cyclist - do they actually exist?
@Muddy Cyclist and @gennepher your daily paintings are always a pleasure to see and looking forwards to seeing the backdrops for the film set.
Welcome @blacknjr, hope you feel a home here.

Have a great day if you can, no need for green cards or International Driving Licenses just yet and you can still use the same lanes at airports. Koffy calls, and the call is strong.

If you ignore the manufacturers manuals you can hardly complain.
So that's where I am going wrong. I did have the manual 50 years ago - I wonder if I can find it now.

In the meantime I will follow your advice and not attempt conversation while England plays France tomorrow. Must look for my ear defenders as I am sure it will be noisy in our house tomorrow while the game is on.

Morning all 5.3 this morning. Better than expected as I had a small ( about a double measure) of the Hotel Chocolate cream liqueur late evening. Bg went up from 4.4 to 6.8 within an hour. It’s advertised as zero carbs.no nutritional info available on their site but thanks to @Goonergal who found it on John Lewis website, it contains glucose, sucrose and maltodextrin! I’m composing a strongly worded email to them!
@SaskiaKC great news about the move, I agree with @PenguinMum and @jjraak that a futon may not be the best idea. We had one as a spare bed for a while, it was supremely uncomfortable as a bed and little better as a seat.
@SlimLizzy I hope you get your freezer sorted. I tried the sleep hypnosis last night, thanks for the heads up saying it might take a few days, it made me feel better about not dropping off immediately. I did feel quite relaxed though.
@PenguinMum and @Muddy Cyclist both sound like lovely evenings last night, can’t beat friends and family nights in.

Clearing the garden ready for Friday. Dismantled a metal trailer which was part of a lawn tractor package. Used a spanner and a socket set (plus large hammer.) Had the odd funny turn but a bit of a wrench by the end.:angelic:

I thought Booths was the Frozen North alternative to Waitrose? We have a Morrisons locally. They are competitive on price at least for whole salmon, almond milk and pork shoulder but I would never consider them as alternatives to Waitrose. Bone marrow burgers not as good as ultimate ones they replaced. Glad carnivore month went well for you. Would be a step too far for me. You are obviously hale and hearty but where does the oft quoted need for we wrinklies to eat more protein figure in this optimisation of bg levels versus wider issues? (Sarcopenia)

Really? You like this one the best so far?

I am trying to do different things and variations, so that each day is a challenge.
I love @Muddy Cyclist ‘s fence as well!
Thanks @SaskiaKC

Or maybe we could start with a stage version and @gennepher and I could paint the scenery. I wonder if @jjraak is good at directing live theatre, will need a better class of actors though.

I have experience in stage painting!!!!!!
I once painted a door on a white sheet!!!
It was a blinking good door!!!
As a reward my friend Liz bought me a ticket for the Beach Boys in London!!!!! It must have been around 1968-9...
