What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Thank you for the encouragement! :) I will persevere.
Hello to Dennis.

Haha that’s just like him! A waggy hello back!

.
Used to drink my coffee black, but noted staining to my teeth, my dentist blamed the black coffee and recommended adding just a splash of milk (prior to dx) to stop this happening. As it was needed to have a bicarbonate of soda deep clean of my teeth to get rid. (Of the staining, not my teeth)

You’re right about the staining: coffee, tea and red wine all culprits and what I drink most of. Sigh, will have to stick to gin!

So pleased that I am not the only person who has done that. At least I won't run out of chocolate for absolutely ages.

I also had to Google FUBB.
A sheltered life, but having said that I had not come across that acronym before I always knew it as FUBAR but guessed that's what @ianpspurs meant, he was living dangerously. :nailbiting:

Popeye wanted a circuit of the garden before he retired to the kitchen for the night...

So harness and lead and 3circuits of the garden later and he drags me back into the bungalow and to the kitchen, where I give him some biscuits treats, then I retire to bed...

Oh, what a different side of him! Up to now I have "known" him as an indoors cat, snug in a rug, posing for his portrait. A cosy companion with a reputation as a fine hunter and outdoorsman, protector of his human and home.
Now for the first time I see him as the night stalker and keeper of the garden, a guardian with a wild ferocity that before I only knew by reputation.
He has certainly got your back.
I like these moments of reminders that our cosy cuddly companions are wild creatures at heart (as are we ...)

5.3 this morning. I still haven’t got to the end but must take D out now.
@gennepher sorry to read about Popeye’s fright, but glad he’s ok now.
@SaskiaKC I have been in the same position as you with your mama’s desk. Our old house was full of furniture which had sentimental value to me as it had been part of the family for generations. Trying to decide what to bring with us when downsizing was v hard. I love the look of that sofa btw.
@jjraak sorry to hear about your m/ being vandalised like that, makes me so cross. Hope you and Lauren have fun with the new scooter b

Thank you. :)
I do have a few smaller things of hers, but the desk was made the year she was born, and I remember when her father brought it to her. I think it had been made for her mother. So an heirloom that I'm just not really ready to give up if I can help it. But the friend who kept it for me loves it too, and she has kids she could possibly leave it to ... So it would continue to be loved ....

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.

No excuse an 8.3 this morning, b ugger fine tuning, smacking with a lump hammer is required.

Running late again and Mrs J is not happy. I have not started on her list of keep me out of trouble jobs yet!

Th ank y ou for the tutorial in how to get around the *** filter here. I used it on another thread earlier today, when posting about r ooster c rowing, and another poster followed that up with a p ost about what the r ooster said! :D

So more brushes and other equipment in next batch of paintings, assuming you are not all getting fed up of them.
I will never get fed up @Muddy Cyclist of your paintings.
Yup more brushes and equipment. It is inspiring to see what you've used.
When I started this in January, I thought I can never keep this up, a different painting every day. But that was negative thinking without me realising. Now I realise it is possible.

It is not very often you see a cat on a lead @SaskiaKC is it?
He does like to do his patrols...

Thank you. :)

That sounds lovely @SaskiaKC
That you have a friend who would love to take your mother's heirloom desk if it is not possible to immediately transfer it to your new premises. It gives you options. Options are always good.
Hopefully though, you can find a way to transfer it to your new place.
You will find a way to do what you are happiest with.

I’ve been trying and failing for a few months with black coffee, then suddenly it was ok and I wasn’t struggling to drink it, in fact I actually think I prefer it now!! Same happened with sugar in tea, I tried for years to give it up, then decided enough was enough and stuck with it and now I can’t imagine drinking tea with sugar. Good luck, keep at it, even if you only manage half a cup black, by the time you put cream in, you’ll only be using half as much.

Agreed 100%

I have never had sugar with my tea or coffee since I was a teenager. In fact , I have never bought sugar in my entire life. I sometimes ( not regularly ) added milk to my coffee before diabetes ( usually only if the coffee was not great quality , just to mask rough flavor).

I think the secret to enjoy black coffee or tea is to keep trying it ( maybe at first with dark chocolate , or a walnut ). But after a while , it is just how you like it.

Also flavored coffee ( like with chocolate flavor or truffle or vanilla flavor ) might make it easier as a starter .

Frosty good morning to you all. How to evaluate a 5.3 fbg this morning? Not where good lives but sizeable off piste eating yesterday afternoon seems to have been integrated reasonably well. 1/2 a Waitrose 1 Hot X bun cold with loads of Kerrygold - grass fed - and quite a few of Julie's chips from the local chip shop. Bun works out at 24 gms carb - 4.4 @ + 2 hrs. Evening meal and 3 or 4 tests before bed topped out @ 5.9 with a bedtime 4.9. I maybe need more grunt in my diet. sometimes. Seems 1 Timothy 4 (al la ESV) applies here. 15K+ steps daily plus lifting, while clearing sheds (4), over the last few days suits me. 15k steps just walking is my idea of wasted time (at least without dogs).. Re FUBB - obviously referring to the wonderful Wisbone Ash album:angelic: Have a great day. The chasps is a packing of us today. Julie is not that tall so I need to label her: do not pack:)
If y'all like acronyms 1 of my all time faves sums up diabetes (and Johnsonia) and its "funny" little ways: BOHICA:angelic:

good morning all :)

4.7 today

5'C here currently which I'm happy about since I'm currently particularly feeling the cold for some reason. Better add an extra layer to my lagging for our day volunteering at the big shed :)

Hope things flow well for you and Julie @ianpspurs :)

Hope your day treats you kindly everyone :)

Thank you @geefull. Make sure all pipes are well lagged - don't want any bursts.:angelic: Presumably far too early to take off the Goose fat and brown paper layer up there in Scottyland.

Good morning everyone from the dark and dangerous north.

The wonder wheel of the silence of the lambs (lamb supper and an undisturbed kip) came in at 4.8 this am.

A bag needs packing today, should take at least 5 minutes, off to Birmingham tomorrow to visit youngest son and family. Actually it’s to play with the twins, Chaos and Mayhem, and their sister, Little Miss Pamplemousse. Tickets booked to go on the train, can’t be bothered to drive. Email from Thomas Cook informing me that my prepaid travel card is soon to be no more so cashed in what little was left on it. Best hunt out another one, a lot handier than carrying lots of cash when traveling abroad.

Trump now happy that he does not have to eat peaches (I think that’s what he said); he gets confused between empecher and impedicair. Probably his bonnet impeding and entangling any thoughts. RIP Spartacus, 103, not a bad innings. He was once in a film with Lauren Bacall aptly named “Young Man with a Horn.” - A film about puns??

Have a wonderful day if you can and be careful what you think - people tend to become what they constantly think about.
Koffy calls - I am koffy.

You will be fine. Plenty of stress with crumbling stairs, maggots, #freezergate which are bound to impact. Many members whose fbg's are usually exemplary experience unusually higher numbers with far less challenging events. Anyhow, 6.1 is not exactly outrageous.
@SlimLizzy @ianpspurs is absolutely right. It is not surprising your numbers are a little higher this morning.

Any stress triggers the fight or flight response. If you really had to fight or run for your life the higher blood sugars would be so useful. Unfortunately not so useful in modern life when most of our stresses don't require physical action.

All looking good for the big move and hope that Julie is transported in style. That Timothy bloke, banging on about giving up tea and moving on to koffy for a while
