Type 2 SUGGESTIONS FOR METERS TO BUY

I was diagnosed as T2 five years ago - told that I did not need medication, just to control it by a good diet. Since then I have moved to live in Spain and continue to try to eat healthily to keep everything under control. However, the problem that I have is that on some occasions I feel generally unwell and struggle to know whether this is because my levels are high or low! I'm thinking of buying my own meter and test strips so I can monitor more accurately - can anyone please suggest good, simple-to-use meters! Thank you!

I have no idea what is available in Spain but in the UK I went from the SD Codefree to the Tee2 (which in my view is more accurate) The strips are the running cost of the meter and the Tee2 are £7.75 for 50 from

https://shop.spirit-health.co.uk/products/tee2-plus?variant=19264018776121

They may ship internationally but you'll have to contact them to ask. If not you'll need a UK based relation to get them for you I guess..

Many thanks for your help! That particular meter seems very reasonably price compared to what I have seen locally and on Amazon.es - have checked their website and they do ship to Spain but we have regular visits from friends and family who could also bring supplies out to me! Thanks, again!

@Rachox had a good link to the various meters etc.

i went codefree, (the strips are the real costs for any meter)
now using the Navii, same company HOMEHEALTH
no issues so far.but many others out there to choose from.

Do think the meter is invaluable.

Thanks for the tag @jjraak .
Here’s some links to UK meters already mentioned and others, and to be clear I have no commercial connections with any of the companies mentioned. For a meter with cheap strips go for the Tee2 + found here:

http://spirit-healthcare.co.uk/product/tee2-plus-blood-glucose-meter/ with the strips found here:

http://spirit-healthcare.co.uk/product/tee2-testing-strips/

With more expensive strips is the Caresens Dual which I currently use, this one has the advantage of glucose and ketone testing in one machine, it’s to be found here:

https://shop.spirit-health.co.uk/collections/caresens-dual

And to be totally transparent I used to use the SD Code Free from Home Health which has the cheapest strips available. However I found it to be becoming less and less reliable. Here it is for anyone wanting to give it a go, just bear in mind it seems they are replacing it with the Navii, details below.

http://homehealth-uk.com/product-category/blood-glucose/blood-glucose-monitor/

and here for the extra strips

http://homehealth-uk.com/all-products/sd-codefree-test-strips-to-be-used-only-with-the-sd-monitor/

There are discount codes if you buy in bulk.

5 packs 264086

10 packs 975833

Home Health have recently bought out this one too, but I haven’t heard any reviews yet, links to strips and the meter:

https://homehealth-uk.com/all-products/glucose-navii-blood-glucose-test-strips-50-strip-pack/

https://homehealth-uk.com/all-products/gluconavii-blood-sugar-meter-glucose-monitor-starter-kit/

Don’t forget to check the box that you have diabetes so you can buy VAT free. (for all meters and strips)

Just ordered one so will try a parallel test against the Tee2 when it arrives.
Oddly the package meter and 50 strips costs more than the meter alone and an extra 50 strips unless I did something wrong ... so I've go thte meter and 60 strips for £19.68 instead of £19.95 for the package..

I gave up on my Codefree and now mainly use the Caresens Dual as with the Ketone strips I can test for both with the one meter.

I have a Tee2 which is reasonably accurate and reliable I have no idea about the Gluconavii as I don't have one.

I found the Accuchek Mobile a very good meter though the cartridges are quite expensive but with it you don't get used strips littering the place.

I have just got a blue tooth Lifesmart dual blood and ketone meter, not that I have tested for ketones though.

I do not know if this would be available in the UK or Europe as it is a Australian product.

well strangely enough given the topic and the OP wobbly feeling..

i actually had an 'odd' feeling earlier..a little drained..i recognised it i thought as a False hype,
so thought i'd test..now i usually run at low 6's to mid 5's.
have sometimes gone Lower then that but not often.

the Navii does seem to read lower then the codefree
so my numbers while lower are still usually above the 5.0 marker, where i'm used to.

i tested via the Navii and got a 4,1..unheard of for me...have had a few in the fours but few enough to be able to count on one hand.
so i tested with the Code free as well a few moments later, knowing it reads higher then the Navii (but which one is the accurate one, huh )
and that read 5.1..so i was deffo lower then normal..and by a bit according to both meters and my own 'false hype'

so problem solved and i ate a bit of cheese and crackers and felt much better 15 minutes later or so.

so a thumbs up for the Navii from me.

oh @bulkbiker ..they were offering the meter for free IF you ordered a 100 strips, was a link for it, but wouldn't work for me, so i emailed and got the deal.

anyone else interested, i'd email and say that a member on here mentioned it, and see how far you get.
Most obliging company from my experiences.

What products I have purchased from ebay have never given me any problems the Superpharmacyplus that I linked to is based in the UK I was merely showing that the meter is available in the UK a fact to which you were uncertain of and I was not recommending anything just informing.

The link superpharmacyplus.com.au you posted ends with .com.au which makes it a Australian web site, with the head office here in Brisbane.

SuperPharmacyPlus

Australia

I think they may have a ebay presence but I do not buy from anything from there so I'm not interested in looking to confirm

You are absolutely correct stupid me .

Mind you it is obvious that they ship to UK as the prices were given in UK currency not dollars on the page I posted

My only excuse is my own natural daftness and the fact that I completely forgot there is a Stafford in the land of OZ.
