Just because you have diabetes does not mean that you are any more or less vulnerable than anyone else. It is starting to annoy me that the Diabetes community think they are more vulnerable or special than any body else. I don't want to go through the huge amount of people who have underlying medical issues. Get a grip. We are just one of millions who have underlying medical issues. Time to think of others.

Well yes it does a simple fact. I do think of others but I would like to survive this pandemic and in case you had forgotten this is a forum for diabetes.

Hi :) Just wondering what the word “gatou” means? I’m assuming it’s a word for the virus in a language I don’t know, but am very curious.

Eave-end tiles with a circular or semi-circular ornamental pendant popular in Japan.

Not true. Why do you think we get a flu jab each year (like so many others)? For fun?

If you're not worried, then that's awesome for you, plenty of people are worried though and sometimes talking to other people about it can help.

Google translate (using detect language) reckons it’s Greek for cat!

Hi @amate007 ,

There seems to be a little confusion regarding the intention of your post. Along with the title?

However, if you mean the current crisis with COVID 19? Yes, there are worse off. We owe it to the the more vulnerable to make sure we don't pass this virus onto them..
I have 5 more vulnerable members in my family. One of which has contracted COVID whilst treated for cancer in a sterile environment..

However we feel about our own stamina with regards to recovering this novel virus. We should all be mindful of others & deter infecting others.

Come on do you think you are the only ones in the world that don't know what gatou means get a grip your just a few in millions of people equally as ignorant what's so special about you lot.

Is this a derailed thread yet?
I would be very disappointed to think that only certain threads get moderated for derailment.;)

I think I'd like this thread a lot better if it really was about cats. :) Said the crazy cat lady. :)

And no worries, I'm more concerned about my family members and friends with cancer, COPD, heart failure and yes, also diabetes. Not to mention some who are about to lose their livelihoods, if not their lives. And I worry about my husband, because if I die (I have more on my checklist than T2, thanks very much, so fairly likely not to survive if I catch Covid-19), I remember all too well what that kind of grief felt like. I don't wish it on him. And it'd kill my mum, she wouldn't need a virus to strike her down, the grief would. @amate007 , you're making some very big assumptions and rather broad strokes in a place where people come to talk about their or their loved ones' diabetes, and their current concerns. If you want I can tell you all about my aunt's lungcancer and the missing chunk of lung, and the cardiac issues she's had ever since the treatment, and the collapsed lung and all when they botched the biopsy... But this doesn't quite seem the place for it. Nor for my mum's COPD, the five (!) heart attacks she survived and have left her vulnerable, as well as the steroids for the rheumatism and the antidepressants that piled the weight on. You know, the weight that seems to be a large part in killing people because their chest is too heavy for their lungs to draw breath once infected. See how weirdly out of place all of that sounds on a diabetes forum? We don't all have our heads up our *****, though I guess it might seem that way.

Hope you're well. And while a lot of people are going understandably stir-crazy, maybe think about who you do your lashing out to... Venting might help, but accusing a forum full of people of things is a bit, you know... Uncalled for.
Jo

On topic.
There is a great quote by Eldrige Cleever comes to mind, which I will paraphrase;
If it's not part of the solution.. ;)
