What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Have any of you artists tried to emulate the rather stylised first nation art of North America? My cousin emigrated many years ago to Canada and was across here last year and left us a print of some totemic art from a West Coast tribe which is an highly interpreted drawing in colour of a Orca whale.
I think its the kind of art equivalent of the Christian Icon in first nation N.A. terms.
Therefore it has some meaning.

I'm not an artist as such but I would avoid religious/spiritual themes that weren't part of my mongrelised gene pool. People get really touchy about you messing with their symbols, even on here.

I was interested in the stories behind totemic art when I was a youngster, I find the diversity of spiritual expression fascinating. Joseph Cambell is a favourite of mine as is Carl Jung so I am fascinated by archetypal expressionism.

There are many works of beauty expressed through art in the worlds cultures. I particularly enjoy and appreciate many Christian Icons but for the beauty and craftsmanship not the meaning. I tend to go with the dictionary definition of art

'the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.'

However the nature and meaning of art touches each of us in different ways, some for it being visualy pleasing, some for its meaning or for making a statement, is can evoke all types of emotions. To me that is the wonder of art it touches each of us in many different ways all of which are valid.

I have not tried to emulate totemic art, I have tried simple wood cuts to produce early Christian images, not that successfully.

I was somewhat pipped to the post by Mrs MC who I told I was going to paint Euterpe the muse for music as challenged by @Alien Aspie Mrs MC likes mythology and created this art this afternoon, preassure is now on:)

Reminded me of art by Aubrey Beardsley

5.5 this morning, awoken by the storms rattling the gate.

@Muddy Cyclist your good lady romps up the outside to take us all by surprise with a great interpretation. I'm interested in who you will choose as your muse now, game's afoot :)

I have to journey out today as her ladyship requires her spray tan, I did tell her a coat of wood stain would last longer ;)

Fbg 10
Yes Ten.
Why?
Yesterday when I was trimming the front garden, I remembered earlier in the year I had some potatoes. They raised my blood sugars then but nothing like this. I just thought in case there were food shortages later in the year I might be grateful for a crop of potatoes. I do love new potatoes with a spot of butter on. But obviously I never have it now.

I dug up 2 small ones. Cut them into cubes. Left skins on. Ran running water over it them for an hour to get rid of some starch. (I couldn’t get over the waste of water to do this)Then microwaved for about a minute and a half.

I checked my blood glucose first. It had returned to my fbg level after my breakfast a few hours earlier. Then I ate the delicious potatoes. I checked my blood glucose an hour and a half later. Shock. 11.5 A raise of more than 5 points, almost doubled my fbg.

It barely went down the rest of the day. Only went down to 10. Even after eating my next meal which should have lowered it more.

Went to bed on a 10.8

And this morning is a 10. It is going to take me a couple of days to get my levels back to my normal. Even by eating the best possible foods which I know will lower this.

Those new potatoes are staying in the ground. Never again.

Now to do my painting. I started on my Android phone in iPainter for Android when I was sitting with Popeye in the potting shed yesterday. I was doing well, and then I went badly wrong. Fortunately I had been saving different versions as I was going along. So I am going to transfer this to my iPad and Procreate now, and finish on that.

It has occurred to me, what happens if I start a painting in an app that does vectors, and then transfer it to Procreate which is in pixels?

"In iPainter you should be able to select 'export' and then .psd
From that you get the option to export to Procreate
"

I don't use the android app so I looked up whether it can be done, it appears you can :)

Good Morning and 6 for me today.

Raining stair rods here so staying indoors. Mrs MC somehow convinced me to decorate the whole house and have new floors in kitchen, hall, landing bathroom and toilet so yesterday went and fetched a huge Johnston's Paint Colour Card, I'm going to be busy much of September doing some very different painting.

@gennepher thank hou for comments on my heather painting. And Mrs MCs muse.out of interest which muse might you be attempting?

@Alien Aspie this is a problem, I had already started my muse picture, going to have to rethink.

Let your day lead you where it may. Keep safe.

Interesting and time consuming. It won't please the purists on this here forum. The suggestions that keto popularity is declining won't go down well - the graph to support that assertion was flaky at best - and fat is not your friend will raise hackles. Anyone else find the most parsimonious take away from this and the links was aim for protein and fibre - which is where I started my journey 5 years ago and lost 20%+ of peak body weight- not artificially stuffing in fat? Or is my takeaway just confirmation bias? Oh, great artwork young sir.
It’s an interesting take. I do find that eating according to bs reading is helpful. Just high fat without balancing out with protein seems a bit daft. Not sure if keto popularity is actually declining but all so called diets ebb and flow.

I remember that view well when I lived at Great Ayton on six months attachment.

What are those massive holes in the fell they are incredibly deep?
D.
Lots of mining went on round this part of the world - iron and allum - Part of the hill broke away in 1912.

@gennepher if you cook your tiny new potatoes and then refrigerate overnight or up to 24 hours some of the starch changes and becomes resistant starch. Which has much lower impact on BG. This is why I can eat a few oven chips. Because the potato has been previously cooked and then cooled. Of course you may not wish to try this out.
@Krystyna23040 For me staying low carb is very important but so are total calories. My diet is still a work in progress.
This is absolutely where I am.

And what kind of house painting are you going to be doing? In my last house, an old Edwardian house, of 13 rooms, I painted each room a very individual way...
The bathroom was painted like a seaside beach, and the ceiling was half daytime and half night time, and there were stones and sand and driftwood on the floor, and the bath got painted yellow. My son's bedroom was outer space and all the planets...ceiling too...And the rest of the house and rooms were individually painted.

But I wasn't allowed to paint the outside wooden beams any other than black and white...sigh...there was some rule on that.

And I sold that house the day I put it up for sale...a lot of interest...

Can I come and paint your house?
out of interest which muse might you be attempting?

I have no idea @Muddy Cyclist I need some guidance on that matter. Any ideas?

I will think about this in a few days @SlimLizzy
Thanks very much for this tip.
I might try it.
