Is it possible to be misdiagnosed with Type 1 diabetes?
My son has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the end of July (he is 13). However, his antibody blood test result has come back as negative for diabetes. He was admitted to hospital with heart palpitations and urticaria flare up and then when they done his bloods they came back and said he was in keto acidosis and it could only be diabetes. However, we have also found that keto acidosis is also a sign of an overactive thyroid and along with the urticaria and heart palpitations plus weight loss these are all symptoms more pointing at an over active thyroid. He has also been having a lot of hypos lately but with this he is still his normal self and not having any symptoms of a hypo and they have massively had to change his carb ratios and long lasting insulin amounts to try and reverse this and so far with no success. Could it be possible he is t type 1 at all?
