Hi everyone hope everyone is keeping safe.

I unfortunately have lost control again of my blood sugars, but not as bad, I'm constantly within the 10-14 range, & i can come down to 9 within 5 hours of my breakfast and medication, i feel awful i have spoken to my DN and she has booked me a phone call with the specialist. I already feel that the DR will tell me that insulin is my only option but i would want more investigation to be done, probably another C-peptide or anything thats relevent to get checked. All i know is ive had enough of feeling like this and i want to try to get my blood sugars stable and keep it that way. It's difficult seeing the numbers that i am seeing when im not eating for number of hours and keeping my water intake to 3L and only eating nuts when hungry, i told the DN that i do believe i have nerve damage and probably other damage which i probably to late to reverse. If i can get back control i will try my best to keep on track and be active and stay away from bad things. Anyway my appointment is 2 week away so i hope to drop my blood sugars ASAP.

Hello,

Sorry to hear of your struggles! There are are more drugs other than insulin they can try but if you do need insulin then addressing the bloods in my opinion is more important. What is it that worried you about taking insulin?

What would you be looking for from the c peptide?

Hi,,

I have been on insulin before and it hasn't helped me i was on it for 10 months or so,no improvements in my fasting or after meal levels.

I was taking it regularly every meal, i was even surprised that i didnt see no low blood sugar readings which i have seen on gliclazide and sitagliptin.

I read the labels per 100g and i keep to under 15g per 100g i am still learning.
Hi. That's not the best approach to controlling carbs. You need to set yourself a total daily carb limit of, say 150gm, and see how you go. A lower level will of course help. The % of carbs in any food is not that important as long as your daily total is kept down. Do you currently have any excess weight?

Hi Usman, what is your normal day food wise? I know this is an extreme way to put it but when you use insulin (I know you don't), then it's not a question of thinking about carbs in terms of how many are in 100g of food. For example if I choose to eat chocolate at 15carbs per 100g, then feel greedy and have a 1000g bar, then I would have consumed 150 carbs all at once which would be a LOT for me and would require a LOT more insulin right then. The principle is the same for non insulin type 2s, the more carbs consumed overall would require more of their insulin to be produced and if it can't 'get through' or be utilised properly, up go the glucose levels.

I’m the same. My control was fine until COVID and I stopped going to the gym. Walking just doesn’t do the same.

if you can stay under 50 grams of carbs in total daily, and even lower if you can, 15 grams of carbs pro 100 gram can be a lot of sugar/carbs

I’d agree. It’s the total across the day rather than the percentage. If you eat 2kg of food a day and 15% carb = 300g of carb a day

Walking after a meal will help to use up your glucose stores in the muscles. It will stop raining eventually and even if it doesn't I think its a good way to get back into exercise. Ditto swimming or cycling. The other factors that make an obvious difference beyond insulin resistance, are stress, poor sleep and any infection?
Do you have your triglycerides/hdl levels to indicate insulin resistance (should be on a standard blood test result)?
As you have found out, taking insulin when insulin resistant can mean increasing the insulin resistance and hence needing more and more insulin. It is not ideal and is associated with increased risk of complications.
Anything that you can do to shift the fat around your liver and pancreas will help restore your insulin's sensitivity and perhaps help your insulin making cells work better. The first tool is eating real food but you seem to be doing that as well as eating low carb. So then you have keto (20g and under) or intermittent fasting, one meal a day or the 800kcal diet for 8-12 weeks (see Michael Mosley Blood Sugar Diet) all of which are drastic but would get to the root cause but its a matter of what you can live with too.

Assuming you are not ill or very stressed or sleep deprived then I'd ask what you are doing at the gym? My sugars go up when lifting weights but I am assuming your rise isn't temporary just after exercise? Sorry. Must be hard to do this with high bgs.

My sleep is on point. 7-8hours a night but my blood sugars are constantly above 14-15 before and after food. I do cardio and weights but my blood sugars dont come down as they did b4. Its come down to 11.6 now which some would say is High and dangerous
