I’m not sure your dr understood either, unless they meant complications from diabetesThat makes complete sense thanks.
When I was diagnosed my dr talked about reversal and basically said if I got it, then I would then be at no more risk of developing diabetes again than a normal person.
I never understood that,
Your explanation here makes complete sense.
im hoping if I do get good numbers I can introduce some more carbs into the diet so not as restrictive as I am now or have been.
We all hope we can increase carbs later, initially. Some manage a modest increase. If we go back to “normal” then most of us will get all the signs and symptoms again, especially likely the longer we maintain the increase for.
I guess if our personal case had nothing to do with genetics (most theories believe this is part of it) and no permanent changes (eg to beta cells where first phase response remains blunted in many cases even after remission) and is due to weight gain alone for example and we lost weight then it might be a cure so long as we didn’t regain the weight. But as no one can be certain of the specific causes for each type 2 or or the precise mechanisms damaged permanently or temporarily the best we can do is summarise the theories.
