2020/21 Football Season.

Well there's a turn up for the books. We beat Florist 0-2. Well chuffed at that. Lets hope Rotherscum get beaten tomorrow dinner time and we'll be 8 points clear. Rotherham have 3 games in hand before tomorrow. Sheff Weds only drew so that effectively means they won't catch us as they are 11 behind with 12 to play for.

Oh it just gets better. Rotherscum lost this aft. Now there's an 8 point cushion and they have just 2 games in hand now. Out of our last 4 games we need to win 1 and perhaps draw 2 and hope Rotherham slip up. Which they may well do as they have 6 tough games left.

Well Leeds got a point against Merseyside Reds (as appeared on the Leeds fixture list as a response to the proposed Super League idea :)) 1-1. Same points as Arsenal again now.

Don't feel any love for Arsenal right now. I think I will cancel my memberships. Holding on to them for now as I do enjoy footie trips with the family, but there are other clubs and the occasional trip to Elland Road would be good.

When we first became Arsenal members about 25 years ago we felt part of the Arsenal family. A huge club, but we felt wanted. That has changed in the last few years, the sacking of Gunnersaurus was hard to take. This is so much worse. Even if the Super League doesn't happen, the fact that Arsenal were going to be founder members will always sadden me and the damage has been done.

Sad to say it was only a matter of time following the arrival of Stan Kroenke... and will get worse. A period of knocking round the bottom of the ESL for Arsenal and Spurs will fair destroy their fan base in the UK.... elsewhere, who knows.

Was happy when Leeds scored, listening on the radio and it was coming but..... it doesn't always end like you would hope...

The PM is meeting officials from football governing bodies the FA and the Premier League, as well as fans' representatives, later to discuss the proposed European Super League.

Absolute madness is this idea. Not sure as they are doing it to save football. Me thinks there's another sinister motive.

We have become increasingly unhappy Gooners. The trip to the final in Baku was disappointing. You would think that with Fly Emirates as sponsors they could have provided flights for us at just above cost price. But no, our sponsors didn't even bother to do flights there. Instead we had to go with Thomas Cook Sport who were on the verge of collapse.

It's called money. I hope those clubs are banned from the Premier League and European Competitions too for this season and the next with immediate effect

Last chance saloon for the Owls tonight. Lose and its as good as good night Vienna. Wouldn't that be ironic if both Sheffield clubs got relegated. Utd are already relegated.

That's it you have hit the nail on the head. Sadly money plays a big part in most of the football world. Gone are the days of matches being played for the love of the game.

Money, money, money!

If J.P.Morgan are payrolling the ESL. This bank is only interested in investing when there is a large amount of money to be made.

This is another nail in the coffin of grass roots football.

From someone who has been in football for a long time. What is the future for the young British footballers, who have no chance of playing in the professional football leagues? The current set up is already about the elite youngsters, even these will not get chance of getting to the big six clubs, you can see this already in the premier league and the numbers of foreign players in the championship and even the lower leagues.

Where will the money come from to promote academies and women's football?
The money for football pitches and changing facilities?

It is just capitalism in motion and I can't believe that the prime minister is against this, as his belief that the free market is part and parcel of this government's manifesto.

It has been rightly condemned, but what is more important?
Football or children hungry and no way of getting out of poverty?

You're right.
+80% of the country probably not interested in football and would wonder why the PM is getting so worked up on this to the extent they might even legislate......
Glad to see the Germans have some sense of things... but then most of German football is owned locally!

Away at Bradford city tonight. Need a win. But without our top goalscorer and the first choice spine, will be lucky to get a draw.

The premier league meeting of the remaining 14 clubs, have surprisingly all come out and voted against the ESL. All 14 had to agree with the proposal and get a quorum of two-thirds to make it legal.

Yeah and they are right to vote against it too. Lets hope it just falls flat on its face.

Good luck. Hope you beat the Bantams.

We did mate!
Between the two teams, no shots on target, our goal came from an oggy!

Good job we won, cos all the teams above us also won.
Close to securing play offs.

Oh dear the Owls won. Now it is getting interesting. They are 8 behind us with 9 to play for and we have to play tomorrow night. I think though it all hinges on Rotherscum. We could do with beating Barnsley tomorrow night or at least a draw.

All six Premier League teams involved in the European Super League (ESL) have now withdrawn from the competition.

Manchester City were the first club to pull out after Chelsea had signalled their intent to do so by preparing documentation to withdraw.

The other four sides - Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham - have all now followed suit.

Good they have learned some sense.

Big night for our lads. Hopefully we can get something from the Barnsley game and if Rotherscum lose that would be the icing on the cake. Watch this space lol.
