Hello all,

Ive been recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and am still trying to get my head around the situation. Hopefully I can learn a bit more about how to manage this on here.

Welcome to the forums. We're a friendly bunch (usually) so ask any questions that you need answers to.

Welcome to the forums. Lots of good advice on here. Ask questions.

A lot of us have had the experience of being diagnosed without too much information being given, and the tendency of health services to assume that "t2 is progressive, not much can be done" is both wrong and dangerous. Official "healthy eating" advice is not good advice for T2s.

This (in retrospect) helped me, might work for you too.

Hello @ChrisC99 ,

It is a bit of a shock eh... But you'll get the hang of things soon enough, and quite possibly find that this T2 thing isn't half as scary as you think it is right now. (A fair few of us are back in the non-diabetic range, so it's quite possible!) Ask any and all questions you have, and there'll usually be someone about with answers for you.
Good luck, and welcome,
Jo

Hello and welcome,

It is great news that you have found this site. Some of the nicest people I know I have met here. It usually feels very overwhelming and scary when first diagnosed. Take comfort in the fact that you have found what I think is the best resource that I know in the world for diabetics. Ask questions read around and post.

If you haven't already got a meter I highly recommend that you get one. It is the tool that will allow you to make informed decisions about what you eat.

Good luck welcome and keep posting.
