Fbg 6.8
I think that is more normal again, for me at least.

Yesterday, when I got up, Midnight was behaving differently, not in a bad way, but almost as he had understood my explanation to him about me needing to be careful when he was round my legs and feet as I was walking, so I didn't fall over. And that it was dangerous for me if he continued doing that.

He kept a bit more to the side of me, and it was easier for me to continue walking yesterday without having to keep coming to a halt because he had sat down in front of me, which he was doing constantly every few seconds as I was walking. He has always done this. And he is always walking in front of me as I am doing tasks. He doesn't follow me around, he leads me around.

This morning, for a second day, he is still more to the side of me as I am walking, but still in front leading the way. This is so much easier for me, and less tiring. I can carry on walking instead of the stop/start/abrupt halt walking he was initiating before.

Last night I put supper down for him. But he wasn't ready for it. He eats so much less than he ate before. Just the amount for a small cat now. But he might be catching mice in the night. There is a mouse's nest in the middle of the garden. You want to see his front claws. They are massive and lethal, in very good condition, worthy of a panther.

Anyway last night I got his grooming tools out. Sat besides him on the swing, and used the fine metal pronged brush first that gets a lot of dead fur out. It took me 15 minutes working on one side of his body. It is loose fine white stuff, that causes him to choke sometimes when he is trying to clean himself. Then a comb with different combinations of lengths of teeth on it. So that was me finished, because he never lets me do the other side of him. But what happened next yesterday? He looked at me as I put the tools down, and then shifted his position to face the unbrushed side of him to me, and his belly also. He has never done this before, turned over so I can do the other side! He has always flat refused to let me do the other side.

So another 20 minutes of grooming, and he loves his belly being gently groomed. However, his tail is a no no.....but I will get that tail...

So I went in and got the soft bristle brush, and the last bit is very gentle stroking with that all over.

An hour's grooming in all. I got paid in purrs as loud as the feel of my hands on the bonnet (when I was a child on the farm) of a running Ferguson tractor engine.

Midnight went to bed contented.
I went to bed contented.
And Jade came in and ate Midnight's supper with Midnight's blessing...

Creative this morning, I pointed Laboscope towards some shell covered boxes in my bedroom....

Time for a cuppa.

Take care and chill out...

Lovely cat grooming story. More satisfying and less costly than going to a professional groomer although I think that Midnight would provide loads of fun preventing said groomer near him. Smashing kaleidoscope

Good morning everyone from another day in paradise in the dark and dangerous north. Yesterday the plan was to go to the swing park for a while and then continue on to our favourite cafe. But no. Halfway there and the girl in the bubble decided that a change in the order of things was much more preferable - so, route change avoiding the swing park - just in case the order changed yet again. All was sweetness after that. In other news, an orchid that had lost the plot last year has now sprung into flower. A wonderful maroon colour and five more buds growing like crazy. Those trimming and watering tips on you choob payed off.
Art bit - the start of more trees - at this rate I will have saved the planet all on my own. Do nice things today and help the elderly across the road whether they need help or indeed want to cross the road in the first place. Koffy, must make koffy.

Perhaps I had better YouTube orchids that have lost the plot, because my daughter from Australia sent me one for Mother's Day, and there was only one sad blossom left on it when she stayed with me :(

Girl in the bubble had a great time!

A nice grove of trees @dunelm
I have my own imaginations what goes in and around them @dunelm

My MIL says she's managed to cross roads for most of her 92 years and since there a few "eccentrics" on here thanks but no thanks. Enjoy summer '22 carefully and respect the right of others to do so. In the deep, dark, cold of winter just remember how good a little warmth felt when you may need to choose to heat or eat.
J was 20 years older than me, and he was a little frail in his later years (in his late 70's), but he wouldn't accept unexpected help offered by a stranger when he was struggling. He felt it a weakness. But one particular day this stranger came along with all the best intentions, and straight away put his hand under J's arm to help him out of the car, but those of you that have problems in a certain activity, it may not be the help that is right at that point of time, like J was half way getting out of the car and so his body was geared to completing the action on his own. J lost his temper with the man offering help and pushed him away saying some naughty words (J did not use naughty words normally). The man offering help was very polite, saying something like not at all sir you have a good day.

I went round to J, my eyes were blazing, and he got the length of my tongue and reasons why, including saying he could have asked the helpful guy to hold the door instead of his arm. I finished with something like, you might struggle to get out of the car, but you can still run, now get after that man and apologise. J ran after him. I sat in the car and waited.

I think about J when people offer me help, and I've learnt to say, perhaps you could do this instead of that, especially when someone has assumed that how they are helping me is the right kind of help and it is not @ianpspurs

Said groomer would need an armour...
Thanks @dunelm

Thank you for that reminder of the need to be gracious in accepting or clarifying the exact help one needs. Also thanks for the kaleidoscope and story of the restoration or even deepening of your relationship with Midnight. You must have been told a thousand times but one more won't hurt, you are an amazing person. It is a privilege to know you even virtually.

Hello,
If you pm me a picture of said orchids and a brief description I will show Mrs J who has been growing the things on the kitchen windowsill for many years and see if Mrs J can offer some advice.

Hello friends!

Fbg this morning was 6.0, slightly better than yesterday but still not usually in the 6s. I have been eating whipped cream for dessert last few nights, could it be that perhaps. Might give it a skip tonight

Hope everyone has a wonderful day

I was on my bed having a nap yesterday, when some one woke me up around 6pm. It was Midnight. He was being very vocal, only I couldn't hear with not having my cochlear processor on. So he touched my foot which was over the side of the bed. He must have lost some weight because he can raise himself on this hind legs like a bear is able to do. I looked at his face. Supper, it said. So like the obedient servant I am, I got up to fill the empty cat dishes. But it wasn't for him, it was for Jade waiting in the bushes.

Creative is a kaleidoscope in Laboscope pointed at my pillows...
Have a good day.
Cuppa tea now.

Morening all, have to be quick today, places to go, people to see and x-rays to have.

A perplexing 5.1 this morning.

Stay safe all.

Good morning everyone on another morning of mystery and the anticipation of good things to happen, here in the dark and dangerous north. Grandson has a paper round and passes our house at about the halfway point so he will be here shortly for breakfast. First time was yesterday and then he, Mrs Miggins, our daughter and the girl in the bubble went off into the rain towards Grosmont and a train ride. Mrs Miggins took her official jacket, peaked cap, the thing that opens slam doors and her ticked crimper with her from when she was a Platform Manager so that they could be recycled. I had a pleasant day doing not a lot but did venture out for a bit of foraging down the overgrown isles of the supermarket. Art bit - adding some foliage. Keep well, don’t watch any televised debates, they only cause upset and raise blood pressure. Best make some koffy before the paper boy turns up.

Morning all. I'm still here and it is still summer so two blessings right there. @alf_Josiah I hope the x-rays go well but maybe eschew @dunelm's advice for now. @gennepher thanks for the kaleidoscope. Good news on your care making Midnight more mobile and rubbing off on his relationship with Jade. @Jojo85 good that fbg is coming down and swerving the whipped cream is worth a try. Recycling centre for me with the help of No 3 son then more time with his children - more blessings. Take care everyone. Same place tomorrow?
