Afternoon, having been pointed at this thread I’ve glanced / skimmed most of the replies, but read the administrators replies.

My conclusion is this is still very much work in progress and I shall give things a week or three. Stumble through posting every day with my blood sugars.
.
Luckily I have nothing to do, nor have the time to devote energy running this useful web site and am grateful the guy / guyess’s have not taken a leaf out of my book saying stuff you, if you can do better do it.
Take my reply as a +ve and if time and patience is needed just say.

have we lost emoticons in text (the weird little images available in the formatting toolbar previously)?

Hi, they are there. Click the 3 dots circled below in the highlighted screenshot & you get a drop down menu to chose the emoticons…

Has anyone noticed we don't need to refresh our screens to see new alerts anymore, they seem to arrive in real time!
That's a great improvement for me!

No, there are still emoticons although maybe not exactly the same as previously.
On a laptop, I can see the smiley face to click on the toolbar for this comment. But on a smaller screen, you can click on the ":" to see more options.

We do have the old instructional videos (https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/forum-beginners-video-guides.51729/) but they are pretty much outdated after the last forum update.
Making new videos would be very hard, short term, but a sticky thread in Greetings and Introductions outlining the way the forum works should be doable and very useful! :)

Making this thread with a group of people who are both very familiar with the forum and have experience with this kind of stuff makes a lot of sense, and we could do is a lot better and quicker using the knowledge and experience of people who are good at this, and not just trying to do it within the mod team.
For anyone interested in seeing if we can write good guides on how to use the forum, here's the group project, don't hesitate to chip in and start writing drafts!

Since I switched from the ten year old iPad I had to something a bit more up to date a few months back. It was kinda doing “that” for me with the previous forum? Page loading the old forum was lightning speed too.
Couldn’t grumble about my Galaxy note 9 phone either.. (Using the relevant OS browsers.)
But I have to admit. Baring in mind I had macula oedema. The text on this new forum is to my eye, sharper. (More defined.)

Has the forum colours and layout changed totally with the upgrade? or is there somewhere I put it back to how it looked before? I’m really struggling to navigate and read it. It’s so pale and it’s just all merging in to one for me. I’ve tried the button on the bottom and tried the red and the mild but nothing changes. I really don’t like this, :( I don’t know what I’ve read and what I haven’t and which threads I’m following. Looks a bit cheap. Why the change?
Couldn’t agree more. What’s the point changing it if it’s worse than before? At least make the type bolder and easier to read.

Improvements are beyond what you can see. In an earlier comment, I believe the Adminstrator mentioned the forum had to be updated for security reasons.
In my book security is priority with anything that contains personal information so this is not worse than it was before.

Ah! That explains why I can't see it! I need large print AND to see type, medications etc
If you want to change the size of the text, change it in the browser for the forum. I use Chrome and it's in the 3 dots settings menu in the in top right hand corner of the page. Half way down the list is Zoom which you can increase / decrease the size of the page in 25% increments this will change the text size.

I do this with most forums I belong to.

This works in most good browsers, I don't think the "app" has been updated yet.

Tried it under Android mobile

Looks different if not using 'desktop site ' mode

It went / setting /accessibility.
Gave me a slider to increase text font.

Also made no difference to forum posts text, sadly.

But it has made edit fonts bigger and my alerts font increased.

Guess wait until the web gods get finished with their magic.

Go to the setting that I mentioned before, then click on Advanced it is alreasy open in Chrome on my Sammy tablet and phone, then click on Accessibility move the slider to the right so the text size is comfortable reading.

This should be similar on other browsers as well.

Have you tried changing to a different style - there is a choice of colours now.
Thanks, have now done this, it’s better but just preferred old layout I guess and still have the red heading but guess I'll have to get used to it.
