What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Fbg 6.6

On the YouTube video of my nighttime trail camera recordings, here is the fox I call this fox Skinny Fox. It has been around for about awhile now, ever since I started recording. It is always the first wild creature in my garden of late afternoon as it is getting dark. It was searching for food. Maybe it was the runt of the litter, or had been ill. Finally I caved in and put food out specifically for it. It has built up some body weight and its fur is now looking much sleeker.

I sent an earlier video of Skinny Fox to someone and I was advised to specifically feed this Skinny Fox. The advice was to feed it, so that at some later date because I am target feeding at a regular times, if it needs treatment, or even trapping for treatment, then that would make things easier. At the moment, it is wait and see. But things are looking good, it is putting on weight, it is much more confident than it was when I first recorded him. You can see his wedding tackle, so he is a boy, which I am grateful for, because if it had been a she and mated it would not have stood a chance.

I am locking up at night, and putting the SD cards in the trail cams, and I can already see movement in the undergrowth. The second I turn the key in my door Skinny Fox is out eating the special food I put out for it. Other foxes and badgers visit my garden later in the night, but at least I know Skinny Fox has got his food.

Creative is something a bit different. A digital painting of the scene in front of my bungalow. The Moon and the Lamplight.

Time for a hot cuppa.

Heroic efforts with skinny fox and a smashing piece of art.

I'd agree on the voice control .

Once set up, we found Amazon's Alexa worked well with the TV search & station selections .

However, while I love a gadget, I think there is a niche market for a graded approach to Remotes deliver with TVs etc.

Graded choices from a zillion buttons to a simple more basic remote
Station up / down
Volume up / down.
On / off

Ours has a button Laurens occassionally presses that puts up subtitles, that I find distracting.

Took a little while to figure out what button turns it off .
(Not the ones I expected )
I’m still trying to figure out how my radio works

Morning

A mix of a week.

Docs for diabetes check up.

Offered flu jab at appointment, so had that too.

BP up...so checked a little deeper.

Resting heart rate a little low

(Seems to affect supreme athletes, and I've only been going gym for a few weeks :wideyed:

marvelous how quickly that little bit of exercise has worked for me :) )

So a few more tests arranged.

Amusing moment when ECG just wasn't playing nice...a hint of panic I felt

Seems metal in leg plays havoc with readings...
who knew ....lol.

Doc mentioned valves and creaking doors
(seems as we get older they rust or get less flexible )

Heart came back ok.
Wore a BP monitor over night, awaiting report back from that.

On a day of "oh, really, is that bad ? "
I got news I more expected.
HBA1c up by a bit, but
" not as bad as it could have been" ®™JJ. Ind 2022.

And in a little ray of sunshine, my B12 has finally crawled out of the lower lower third (not a stutter or typo ;) ) of the range, and crept up to the mid 400's...which cheered me up.

Gym last night with steph.
But being a little more careful about lifting above my head ...good little session .

So over all....
Some precautionary testing to head off any issues.
Diabetes check all good apart from scores
Hearts ok
Flu jab done, so flu can now Do One, as they say in Scouse land..
And training becoming a good habit.

A naughty treat last night, that will be the last for a while, rewarded me with a slapped wrist of 7.2 this am.

So into the weekend & next week with renewed vigour & determination.

God speed on your day, everyone.

Good morning everyone on what looks to be one of those tap on, tap off sort of days interspersed with coy glimpses of sunshine like a fan dancer at the Weimar Cabaret but only in B&W. Anyhow, girl in the bubble was over last night so this morning’s perfect quiet was shattered by the noises of the perfect noisy child. Crumpets were consumed (weirdo), fancy outfits donned and she is off with Mrs Miggins to her Saturday morning dance session. Black patent boots and sunglasses go so well with a long, flowing blue Disney type dress and a tiara and that’s just Mrs Miggins. Art bit, scratch, scratch. Hope that everyone has as pleasant a day as you can. I have already consumed my koffy so best get on with making some more.

I had my opticians appointment today.

Last year I had an arrogant optician who I had never seen before, and told me I had the beginnings of macular degeneration, and cataracts, and that I had a bleed in one of my eyes. And showed me these things on the OCT scan. Last year this arrogant optician was telling me to expect the worst. And was putting me down. And I had left with a feeling of dread.

I have been worrying all year. And was dreading today

A really nice Indian optician greeted me this year. He said the OCT scan showed very healthy eyes, very good condition. No sign of the bleed. No sign of any diabetic retinopathy (which the arrogant optician had said about last year). And no signs of any thing else. Just perfectly healthy looking eyes, with a very healthy colour. I said I didn't believe him. Would you like me to do the OCT scan again he asked me? Yes I said. And they threw in another test which apparently I did very well at. Same results, same healthy eye photograph

You mean I have been worried all year about nothing.

That stuff can't just all vanish like that from last year, can it?

I know it sounds silly, but since this appointment today with this lovely optician who explained some other stuff to me about the important necessary laser treatment (which saved me losing my sight) I had 3 years ago, I feel I can see so much better and clearer, and I'm not worried about my eyes at all.

I must be doing something right for my eyes to have improved in this way.

I am grateful for my eye health.
And checking our blood sugars is so important.

I was talking about me doing painting and he asked me what angle I painted at, whether using tablet or paper and the distance it was from me. I said flat on the table. He said you need a third pair of glasses (painting glasses) because we change angle of something in it so that you can see to do your painting and it has a plus 1.75 on top of your prescription. I don't have a clue what he's talking about but he said it would make a big difference for painting.

I will get them in a fortnight, so I shall find out if it does make a difference.
BRILLIANT NEWS @gennepher

What a twonk, giving you a year of needless worry...<furious>

But fantastic having someone who realises the true meaning of their job AND the importance it can plan in our lives ...<heart>

On some of our electrical equipment, Neil has used a white marker to highlight or paint an arrow to point to the correct buttons for turning on/off. He hasn't bothered with the remote control because on/off is a big red button and I have learned the volume control and do know how to change channels. The rest is a mystery. It does control a dvd, but I never bother with that because I don't want to sit still long enough to watch one of those, never mind having to remember which way round the disc has to go. Choice of a or b? I'm bound to choose the wrong one and then have to figure out how to get the disc out again.

Smashing. Amazing move to supreme being status Mr Apollo and good that the docs are keeping you wired for sound. My joints sound like bronze Talos in Jason and the Argonauts.

What's that?

Explains it better then me.

Maybe a tad too techy for some, but I now photo any manuals (English versions only )
Or QR the pdf & store on gdrive, usb & computer.

I photo the manuals because to get all the info in, the print is microscopic.

So much easier to read when it's actually visible .. :hilarious:

"To access the information embedded in your PDF QR code, your customer has to scan it using a smartphone camera or a QR code reader app."

Ah there's the rub...You need a smartphone to use the code. I don't have one of those. I do have a mobile phone, but it's another one of those gadgets that I can't use, even though it is a very simple one. Not as simple as me, obviously.

Morning all from a dry but distinctly cool day in the Exotic (no predictive text thank goodness but some may pine for the possible alternative) East. The failure of certain joints to comply with my needs is turning into an ongoing whack-a-mole type scenario. Left ankle quickly solved same day but right knee has now decided to strike for better conditions, mostly more suitable minerals. MIL's stairlift is very useful just now. Wonderful news on the benefits of gym going and the positive MOT @jjraak. I saw what you did with the Spurs dig but your neck must be hurting with all that craning from looking at the PL table. @gennepher so good to know that your eyesight is very functional and that the new glasses will help with your art. Thanks for the video, insight into your care for that skinny fox and the creative. The Fox, the Fairy Godmother and the Tardis - lesser known Narnia book. @dunelm splendid start to the day. Crumpets, eclectic clothing and orff to dancing/ballet sounds awfully familiar but pink wellies are needed here. Thanks for the latest art and the variation on the what, that old daub? trope. @alf_Josiah good news on using the hedge and tree cuttings as mulch. Thanks for the all clear on my apology but I'm guessing neither of us would be up for a brohug or hugging it out, so no bring it in big man malarkey thanks. Our boys (millenials) and their peers are keen on that kind of thing but I'm sure my grandfather would have reacted with a proper stinging doughboy - dad was definitely uncomfortable. Today's Advent poem https://malcolmguite.wordpress.com/blog/. The essay accompanying this in his book is wonderful imho - immensity cloister'd and the concept of mimesis were a delight on my first reading. Enjoy your day.

I like the sound of Mrs Miggins outfit ;)
How did the little 'un dress?

Great Art Scratchings...sounds like it should be in a snack pack...
(Just kidding!)
It is amazing how you do these scratchings and then suddenly colour transform it into something scarily real...

He was a lovely person. He looked a bit scarily tall when he came out of the room, he had to duck under the doorway (7 foot plus tall?).

He gave me all the time I needed. He answered everything I asked.
He was fantastic @jjraak

Love John Donne. Sometimes a bit difficult to read, but worth the effort.

6.5 this morning and braved the garage work out this morning of 10 mins of weights followed by 50 mins of spin bike. I definitely was warm after! Going to take it easy today and watch a few films as my muscles are aching!
