Hope you are feeling less tired today but willing to take advice from The Duchess. By the time May retired, 1962, I had been imbibing cricket with every meal since birth, reading Playfair magazine and watching every Test match the grainy old TV showed. Remember watching my dad play in two cup finals - still have the (winners :woot:) trophies (cricket trophies from 3 generations) Wisden delayed its tribute until 1971.

Thank you for your post @gennepher. You are so right - we cannot do now what we could in our 20s. I also have the fault that I criticise myself that I am being lazy if I factor in 'me time ' but I also - just like you - know that I get more done if I do factor in rest time.

Am still tired today, so must look at ways to get more rest time. Hope you also sort out a way to get through the next two weeks.

Good morning everyone on what might be a smashing day should I decide so. I have already hung washing on the line @ianpspurs @gennepher - this could be habit forming and then before I know it, become a tradition. And we all know how dangerous those things are. There could even be a flag involved and arguments like which way up do you hang a piece of Piet Mondrian art. I must do something about it by ignoring that particular white good if I know what’s good for me and to prevent a rift in the force. Art bit - colour added. Hope your day is kind to you. Morning all from a sunny but some way off Summer in L.A. Swipey felt I should wear 4.7 today even after rainbow birthday cake - 7 gms which I absolutely did weigh at the table. Granddaughter was satisfied I had eaten some but she was busy admiring her Princess dress and making tiger noises as she was wearing tiger face paint. We have her cousin today (too poorly for school) who has been 4 for almost a year so is full of advice on that topic. @lindisfel hug for yesterday but a timely warning and I'm guessing a few well aimed words from Marjorie are better than the probable alternative. @gennepher sound advice on pacing oneself. @dunelm thanks for sharing the wonderful art. As always adding colour transforms an already splendid offering. Have a good day but don't go casting clouts just yet.

Exam season starts today so thoughts and prayers with those taking them, parents and grandparents. I have the utmost sympathy for this and the next few cohorts whose education has been mostly under these utterly confused people. (Barwell was May's advisor) Much of their time in school will have been blighted by Gove's reforms :bigtears: Huge hugs for these little ones - any of your loved ones affected? .

I'm having to reconsider the value of the "Move More" classes that I've been doing on Zoom in the last few months. Every time I do the(very gentle) exercises, I can barely move for a couple of days afterwards and although, at the start, I did make improvements in the flexibility of one shoulder, that is all have achieved and even it is getting a bit worse now. Today, I couldn't even do all the movements and found that I was developing a new pain in my upper spine. Add to that, my walking has actually deteriorated and I think there is reason to reconsider what I am doing.

Kirsty (who runs the class) says I should consult the GP (some chance of help there - usually just take more pills) or self refer to physio. I don't want to withdraw from the class completely in case I don't get back in if things improve. The other option is to take pain killers an hour before the class and hope to get through it without feeling it too much. That might lead to more pain killers to cover the pain afterwards.

Am quite undecided right now and feeling a bit of a wimp. After all, it only hurts and others withstand far more without complaining. Actually, I'm not complaining. It is what it is and that's all there is to it. Just not sure how to manage it - same as my diabetes - managing it is the issue, not having it.

Not here, they said when I got to front of queue.

Yes it is, I said, My Health Online tells me it was approved on the 4th May, and sent to you on Tuesday 9 th May, and that I had to wait 5 days before I can collect it. So, that is why I came on Monday 15th May, this morning.

It is still not here, they said, it is not on our computers. You will have to go over to the Health Centre. I toddle over to the Heath Centre. Far too much walking for me. Receptionist says she cannot do anything about it. I sit down on the seat of my walker, and tell her I am not moving.

Receptionist looks at me, prints some stuff off and disappears.

Half hour later she returns. I've done this for you she says, and hands me a duplicate prescription, signed by a doctor she found on the premises...I thought doctors were rarer than hen's teeth. I say thank you very much.

I toddle back to the chemist, and the queue is now outside the chemist.

Excuse me, excuse me, I say, and go past everyone to the counter. I hand the prescription over and tell the counter assistant that the online records say that they did receive my prescription on the 9 May. It is still not on our records, she insisted. We'll deal with this now.

Dealing with it now, still took them 1 hour and 15 minutes. I was sitting on my wheelie, half dozing, half catching snippets of conversations at the counter mostly by lip reading.

And the customer was asking for their meds. Counter assistant says, no record of their prescription on our computers, you'll have to go back to wherever you order the prescription from. There were a few discussions/not quite arguments, and each time the customer leaves very disgruntled and with no meds. I stopped counting how many people this happened to when I ran out of fingers. And shut my eyes and went into a doze.

My luck was in. Not one but two massive Polish wagons! All the eggs I can possibly need....

The moment I got in, the fresh stuff is in the fridge, and I am in my bed...zonked out, and my bum is still sore. I woke up at 2 pm, and I am still tired...

Creative is Herb Robert (yes it does have 5 petals, but this one only had 4 because one was shrivelled up). I started it in iPastel, and then finished it in Procreate to get the effect of the petals.

Now I am going back to sleep again...

So, I have 'lost' another day.

Tomorrow I have no intention of going out. I need to play catch up...

Thanks for sharing the video and wonderful creative after such a horrible day so far. Not sure whether to rate that winner or hug. I'll have another mug of tea and decide. Have a good nap, maybe dream of egg based recipes?
Update: Had my tea now so gave a winner for the shared pieces and persistence. Attached has not in any way affected my mood ;)

A nightmare day but a definite Winner for persisting with the unhelpful receptionist. There is something really wrong with their IT system. They must sort it as it is an appalling way to treat patients.

You are definitely not a wimp @Annb. It isn't OK that the Move More classes are causing more pain.

You could always self refer to a physio, if only to hear what they say/suggest. I am assuming it would be a telephone consultation and you won't have to go to the hospital. And you would just be sent sheets of exercises, or access them/pdf online.

If they are no good, then you haven't lost anything.

Perhaps the length of the zoom class is too long for you. Maybe the exercises individually are okay for you, but doing them for a solid hour one after the other is far too much for you.

About 60 years too late for me and thousands of acres too late - long read, try the introduction. Unless wages rise so people can afford to pay more for British food, growers will keep going out of business.
So many varieties simply wasted because our governments have always been so short sighted.

@Annb I agree with @gennepher that the one hour class is too long. Perhaps you could do 15 minutes of the class and if you get no repercussions from that you can continue with the 15 minutes for a few classes and then slowly, over a very long period of time, gradually add more minutes.

I am sure your teacher would be happy for you to do that.
 
Good morning everyone on a splendidly quiet and sunny start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. I can hear a pigeon somewhere outside, breaking the silence, begging to be put in a pie. A gentle breeze wafts white blossoms along the ground from the trees that line the street and I have a nice hot mug of tea. There is another gutter to clean out today and the grass will certainly get cut despite protestations online by people who do not even visit our little town. We will compensate by adding seeds to the bird feeders and offering free councelling to worms and bugs who feel hortophobic or just want to glue their legs to nearby pebbles in protest. Art bit - another starter for ten. Hope your day is kinder to you than the previous one. I now have koffy to make and consume and then do some exercises. Drinking koffy about an hour before exercise is optimum according to some - they wouldn’t say that if they saw my so called efforts.

There is no point in using words to argue/discuss with a human about the NHS malfunctioning IT system that is not fit for purpose...it is impossible to find anyone to own up as you say.

Gutter cleaning? There is a tiny Buddliea beginning in one of my bungalow gutters. I can't do ladders any more, there must be a suitable extendable tool...

Just reading this again after reading other comments and decided to time my morning exercises which are mainly stretching exercises. Nearly 15 minutes. These do set me up for the day and although I do mine standing up, I think that 15 minutes doing movement exercises sitting on a chair should be enough if more causes pain.
