The 141 is your HbA1c - and that is rather high. Diagnosis of diabetes starts at 48, the normal range ends at 41.Hey, i look forward to being here and learning more, as they really don't give you much info. Well, this is where I am a little confused with what's what. The diabetic nurse said it was 141, and should be less than 58? So it was in the dangerous zone.
So I got myself a machine however it reads differently. Last week I was in the 20s, last few days has been 12 and this morning 11.4, so am now in the high rather than dangerous. Still in denial though and having too many 'treats'
Not strange at all. Your lenses - within the eye - have been affected by the lowering of glucose in the various fluids. With any luck in a little while things will return to normal as the concentration of glucose evens out. The usual advice is not to get expensive prescribed glasses until your blood glucose levels have been stable for a while.Thank you, that helps and yes I've had strange things happening with my eyesight. Overnight my glasses for long distance are now useless and I can see long distance. I now can't see short distances like reading my phone. Very weird and so quick. Had to get myself some reading glasses today
I don't wear glasses, however I had the wonky eyesight thing too when lowering blood glucose levels. Within 3-4 weeks of fingerprick readings being consistently under 10 mmol it went back to normal for me and I was coming down from an average in the 17s when first diagnosed. Haven't had any further eyesight issues since.Thank you, that helps and yes I've had strange things happening with my eyesight. You're making steady progress already. And while 11,4 mmol/l is still high, it's also decidedly better than hitting those 20's, so... Take the win, you're nailing it.Hey, i look forward to being here and learning more, as they really don't give you much info. Well, this is where I am a little confused with what's what. Welcome to the forum @TracyPh. Crikey, 355ml bottle of 'Juicehead Straightup OJ' according to Cronometer is 35g carbs. Think you've found your problem right there. It'll probably take a while for your liver and pancreas to recover, and they will with a careful diet. Though I'm sure you'll know that diabetes doesn't have a cure, we can only put it into remission through careful monitoring of our diet, and or taking diabetic drugs. The biggest thing which had an immediate affect was stopping OJ, I was drinking several litres a day. Overnight the overwhelming thirst stopped, as did the subsequent need to pee
Carbs!Hey, thanks. Yes now I know, it was my go to drink, have made some steady progress in a week cutting out cards. Am still upset about cake though lol
