Keto Flu - A Magic Cure

Gazza90

Newbie
I’ve been on the Keto diet for the last 5 weeks and mostly it has been good. Weight loss has been spectacular,, started at 90kg now 81kg, I’m male around 6ft. Bloods down from around 7.5 to 5. So that’s the good side, last week i think a got the infamous ‘Keto Flu’. Headaches, listless, difficulty eating, and a touch of constipation. it was so bad i was considering coming off the diet.

So I hit Mrs Google and worked out i might be short of , in no particular order, electrolytes, roughage, water, and or not enough fats.

I upped my water intake, took some more yoghurt and berries. I then checked up on electrolytes and the cost was prohibitive….

................................................so I started drinking a cup or two of Marmite each day .

Keto flu has disappeared , check out the nutritional values of the black stuff, it’s magic.

Well this worked for me anyway , yes MARMITE

Love a cup of marmite, took me a while to train myself of white bread and butter to dip in though ;) sometimes I do drop a knob of butter in to make it richer

I currently have an oxo cube (a poor man's bouillon cube) with Himalayan pink salt in hot water every day. I'm running low on oxo cubes, so got a jar of (Aldi's version of) Marmite, so will see what it's like tomorrow. Thanks for the info.

I also use the High 5 Zero electrolyte sports tabs - no sugar or calories, just drop one in 750ml water, they have magnesium, potassium, sodium and vitamin C, think they are about £5 a tube of twenty, I have one a day, it also helps with my fluid intake, I just sip it throughout the day

Fluid, I.e. water intake should be at least 2 ltrs a day. More if in hot areas or exercising so my low carb app Sat's.

I agree with that, I also drink plain water, green tea and fruit teas throughout the day - I drink far more than 2ltr a day, I drink the zero for electrolytes. I also drink black decaf coffee but don’t count that in my intake as it’s a diuretic
