What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

FBG was 6.0 this morning, What happened to the lower numbers:(. Not doing anything different and making sure I don't eat anything after 19:00 in line with the challenge thread. The only thing I can think of is I had to get up earlier than usual this morning. Tested before lunch blood glucose levels were 4.9 - happy with that. :)

G'morning chums. Fasting of 6.7 today - a pip high but I still have this sucky cold so that explains a lot. Going to spend the day birding - a sure way to cheer me up and the weather looks set to be pleasant with just a moderate breeze.

I've never worked out whether spending the day with wildlife just boosts me emotionally, or is there some actual physical gain from being outdoors. Either way it looks set to be a great day.
Evening @Welshman1952. I believe it's a bit of both.

Having learnt to identify local birds, males and the trickier females, (with their changing plumage over the year, their songs and contact calls), there's the fascination of behaviour changes with each passing month, the excitement of new arrivals with each wave of migrants and, as your records build, recordng between year variations. If that isn't enough to stimulate the little grey cells and boost the morale, during the Summer when birds are in moult or in eclipse, some of us are into invertebrates, which present a different set of challenges. Apart from butterflies and dragonflies, much less is known, so opportunities for citizen scientists to design experiments and collect data are only limited by the obligation to release anything caught unharmed!

Focusing on nature and wildlife can alleviate tension and stress. Exercise can also do this, but it's even more effective when you're outside, especially in sunshine. Without going into the underlying physiology, it's all tied up with neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. Regular access to green spaces has been linked to lower risks of depression and improved concentration. Friends of ours are chaplins at two Psychiatric hospitals and often bring recovering patients for a walk in our local nature reserve.

6.0 at 7:40am I’m really cross as thought it should be a bit lower. I took soluable Paracetamol at 5am because of pain in my knee and shoulder and went back to sleep. I‘ve just checked the ingredients and they contain aspartame

Have a marvellous Monday everyone x
