What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.3 this morning and 6.6 after workout so if I can just nudge it back a bit, that would be great :arghh: I guess the fact its not rising drastically after a work out, that's okay.

It was either 6.7 or 7.6 (will edit) which is a lot higher than the last 2 weeks and I know possibly why.

I had 1 very small end slice of sourdough bread yesterday with my dinner as it was brought into the house and I was tempted after sniffing it for a bit. and also one of my daughter’s chips from her dinner from the chippy.

I’m human.

I got a lovely multigrain sourdough.... I thought it would be OK... well, it did spike my reading. It will be a rarer choice until it's gone.

So, so good.

was 7.6 btw, shame.

I've been avoiding the temptation at the shelf and not going anywhere near the bakers but it was brought home by my better half, from the lovely posh bakers up the road from us, a proper 72 hour paysan sourdough. It's presence has been teasing me ever since,

Interestingly, 2hr post meal readings with the bread... 4.8 which came down from 5.6 before eating, so I seemed to have dealt with the slice of bread (and chip) fine, but my morning reading was far higher than has been for weeks. Still I'm not taking that as licence to eat a bunch of bread as tempting as that result was.

I also failed the not eat after 7pm challenge on more days than I won it, too chaotic here.

5.7mmols at 7:20 this very windy Friday. I’m sure being in the 5s has something to do with not eating after 7pm

Very windy here, nearly knocked me off my feet when I went to let the chickens out. I can’t wait until they start laying eggs!
Have a fab Friday everyone x
It’s that windy here most hens are laying the same egg more than once …

Evening @May Mic.

Yes, you're type 2 diabetic. Bread, whether it's white, browm, multigrain, wholemeal or any other kind plays old Harry with our BG levels, I'm afraid.

You can buy low-carb versions, but most are expensive. Personally, I take the easy route and avoid bread entirely.

Evening @ravensmitten. Bread, especially sourdough, has had a good press lately, but is it as healthy as it's cracked up to be?

If your family find it hard to walk past that baker up the road, perhaps they'll at least refrain from scoffing it in front of you, so as not to torment you.

Good evening @LivingLightly :)

I don't know about how healthy or what healthy means, I could eat half a loaf of it smeared in butter left to my own devices though! :D

Oddly, it seemed to send my blood sugar down when added to my meal for some reason, maybe I needed a reset of 3 weeks low carb to be able to handle a very small amount (was only a small slice and I'd had maybe 30g of carbs all day otherwise). I won't make a habit of it as it isn't really filling and I stopped at one slice but if its not harming me, now and then I suppose its fine (for me), I'm not on a zero carb way of eating, more liberal to moderate, though the first few weeks I couldn't manage to eat more in a day and was taking in very little carbs at all.

I wouldn't like to impose that on my family though, it's a problem solely between me and the cupboard/bakers and my own responsibility. I don't expect anyone else to skirt around me or be treated with any kind of special treatment. The world is full of food and carby food at that, it's my attitude towards wanting it more than is healthy for me that needs changing, I'd have a hard time living otherwise.

When I was diagnosed with type 2 way back in 2003, my husband had the grace to prepare his own breakfast muesli the night before and eat it the next morning out of sight. I'm not saying I would or wouldn't have eaten it, but it saved a lot of willpower!

These days, I'm so used to those around me eating foods that are poison to an insulin resistant type 2, it doesn't trouble me in the least, but it takes a little time to reach that happy state.

Whatever helps :0)

They definitely aren't goading me like some unhelpful relatives once did, hounding me at the dinner table for eating "funny" now.

My daughter, out of politeness keeps saying, "Oops, oh... you aren't having x now are you?", when thinking about offering me something. She's not used to my way of eating yet but she's getting to figure out what things aren't good for me. Also that its okay to offer, I still thank her, and I can refuse and even if I did get tempted that wouldn't be her fault, that's on me. I feel that mentally, acceptance is more healthy for me long term than avoidance as it will crop up eventually if I don't process it and move on, and get over it, and change my opinions on the matter, and sometimes even make a concession - as is with anything in life, I've found there's risks and rewards to it all.

Libre 6.1
GlucoNavii 4.8
CodeFree 5.5
:banghead:
What an assortment of readings, with GlucoNavii being the lowest again, and Libre as always the highest. I don’t know why that is, with the Libre CGM.

Morning All so 7.3 and a week of 7s bar one 6 but to put spin on it better than 8s. If I could stay in the 6s regularly I would be satisfied. @ravensmitten I occasionall have a slice of sourdough toast piled with either mushrooms or smashed avocado at one particular cafe where I meet up with friends. Ow I have one slice LC toast with loads of tea to start every day. You are doing well to swerve carbs when eating with your family, that can be challenging. Happy Saturday everyone and remember we are here because we care.
