I am liking these new pigments. And I am loving this painting very much @dunelm so upliftingGood morning everyone on a damp squib of a start here in the dark and dangerous north. ‘Tis mother’s day - I must go home and visit my mum. It was done virtually, about an hour ago using the power of zoom (they live in the future in France). We don’t have a mother church, not being of that faith but all the best for those who have. Anyhow, happy Mothers Day if you are a mother. Interesting day yesterday - farmer’s market was well attended - I just bought my usual two loaves of real sourdough. No kimchi - we have loads. Breakfast club celebrated its first anniversary - a cake was cut - not for me thanks. Called into the food bank and popped a donation into the box. Walked home. Dinner out celebrating a birthday. Home in time for tea and medals. Today, meeting two of the offspring for a late breakfast. Table booked to avoid disappointment. Took some hot and spicy red pepper and tomato soup out of the freezer - we can have it this evening. Art bit, some new pigments to try out. Hope you enjoy the day. I shall slurp koffy and pretend it’s fancy wine.

Thanks Ian.Morning all on what has variously been called Laetare Sunday, Refreshment Sunday, Mothering Sunday and latterly Mothers day. The fourth Sunday in Lent when people were clearly flagging with all that fasting, prayer, self denial and pilgrimage. Not sure how we'd cope with Ramadan. @dunelm and @gennepher thank you both for sharing your art to which in a sense you have given birth. Have a sonnet which is Ironic as the poet is an ordained C of E minister considering the awful treatment of single mothers over the years by various Christian traditions. We'll skate over the theme of nurturing, caring and loving which is seen as just woke propaganda in these populist times![]()

Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest? @gennepher sonnet attachedThank you @ianpspurs. Interesting sonnet - a poke at all governments as well.
Misty, quiet and moody. What is on the other side of those gaps, I wonder. Mysterious.Fbg as much as it can be an fbg is 6.8
I was asleep.
Woke up at 1.30.
An hour later I gave up trying to sleep...
So I make a fresh flask of tea.
Did some sorting out and labelling.
Took blood glucose reading at 3.30.
Back in bed.
Uploaded this video.
Nighttime wildlife
Two new Foxes - possibly just paired up - come to visit the legendary swing in my back garden

Creative - this was a quick line drawing from my car in the car park last week when I went for that meal. It was a very foggy day. The weather app had said 'light mist'!!!
As a line drawing it wasn't very successful in my eyes, and as I was still awake, I had a play with this sketch further in SketchClubApp this morning to create a bit of colour and a feeling of mist. I am quite pleased with the way this has turned out. There were two gaps in the hedge below the lamp which made me think of Narnia. It took about an hour!
See if I can get a bit of sleep before daylight...
Night night...
Have your best day...

That looks like a misty kind of day, as well as Gennepher's.Good morning everyone on a damp squib of a start here in the dark and dangerous north. ‘Tis mother’s day - I must go home and visit my mum. Here are the words to the sonnet, Gennepher. Thanks Ian.
Sorry, I couldn't look at the sonnet, it said I had to switch to the Jetpack app within Wordpress...I have not a clue what it is asking me to do....
Yes, very interesting. The whole establishment is indicted there. Very compassionate.Thank you @ianpspurs. Interesting sonnet - a poke at all governments as well.

Thanks @alf_JosiahGood Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all who follow pagan festivals and also those that don’t. Must be inclusive in these times ( other cross words are available)
Blood sugars this morning were 5.9 . If you drop the decimal point 59 is a magnificent prime number. A fact that is ov no importance whatsoever.
Happy Mother’s Day all. In that greeting me, me’s and myself include members ov Frank Zappas pop group Mothers of invention, but primarily Frank Zappa was an artist, not a musician.
Which leads nicely on to the brilliant paintings posted today by @gennepher and @dunelm .
Unfortunately my mother and Mrs J’s mother are no longer with us, luckily Mrs J is a mother and a grandmother, I must add also with a wicked sense of humour which is being passed on to her grandchildren.
Now it time to wish you all well and depart to pastures elsewhere involving tarpaulins and ropes.
Stay safe.
Thank you @AnnbHere are the words to the sonnet, Gennepher.
At last, in spite of all, a recognition,
For those who loved and laboured for so long,
Who brought us, through that labour, to fruition
To flourish in the place where we belong.
A thanks to those who stayed and did the raising,
Who buckled down and did the work of two,
Whom governments have mocked instead of praising,
Who hid their heart-break and still struggled through,
The single mothers forced onto the edge
Whose work the world has overlooked, neglected,
Invisible to wealth and privilege,
But in whose lives the kingdom is reflected.
Now into Christ our mother church we bring them,
Who shares with them the birth-pangs of His Kingdom.
EDIT: Sorry Ian, I thought I was being helpful, but I see you got there first.
If a vivarium is what I think it is and completely sealed @Annb then it would outlive you. No care needed as long as you keep the seal in place and never open it...9.5 at 0530 today. Didn't get to bed until 0045 because, exhausted by my day, I fell asleep in the kitchen chair - sort of. Really kept dozing off and trying to wake up so it wasn't restful, so a bit of a sleep-in this morning.
I have the makings of a fish pie (topless, of course) going at the moment for my 2nd meal of the day; fish poaching in milk, eggs boiling. Already had the first one with insulin to bring BG down a bit.
Em came in, before her Mum yesterday evening with an introduction she had obviously been told to say :"We know you don't want us to give you Mother's Day gift so, this is not for Mother's Day. It is something we thought you would like and it's because we love you." Lovely thought and I was really touched and gratified. The hug that came with it, more appreciated than the present which was a little vivarium with 3 succulent plants in it. Dinky little glass case. Perhaps I'll manage not to kill them. Succulents are pretty hardy and tend to last a lot longer around me.
