13 Oct '24 - Lunch and meet up in Frinton!

Pedants unite! Especially when it comes to language.
Yes, I've met me before. :hilarious:

(@MrsA2 , @Pipp was reacting to me, not you...)

Close to the sea obviously.
I'll bring my bathing suit for a swim after lunch. :)
Pipp, was happy for anyone to read. Otherwise it would have been a PM. ;)
Thought you swam in your birthday suit, @Antje77? :hilarious::eek:
I would avoid open water swimming around British coast , especially after heavy rain.
This really breaks my heart, but would be remiss of me if I failed to mention

For today, the website gives the all clear so I'm hopeful for October!

Not usually, although it does happen. Mostly but not always after drinking.
Swimming is significantly colder without even a flimsy bathing suit, so the North Sea in October may be more comfortable with my bathing suit.

If you want to go skinny dipping after lunch, I'll join you though!

It would be over 400 miles for the round trip for me, so much as it would be fun to meet up I can't justify the travel.
I have to confess though, that I don't eat lunch these days, nor do I eat pizza or cakes.

Hi all,

I'll be visiting the UK in October, and @MrsA2 and I thought this would be a perfect reason to meet up with fellow forum members!
We'll be going to Keto Bite in Frinton, where everything is keto and gluten free. :joyful: https://www.facebook.com/ketobiteuk

I've been there two years ago, and it's a lovely little place with a very friendly owner who is very passionate about his food. Very interested in my Libre results too, after pizza, a piece of cake, and a beer, all eaten without insulin.
I found it amazing to be eating out and be able to order anything they have without having to think about your diabetes, and I think it would be even more amazing to share the experience with a bunch of people who I've never met, but still talk to on a daily basis.

Anyway, long story short, who wants to join us?
Just reply to this thread if you're in, or if you're a maybe for now so we can make a list and know for how many we need to make a reservation.

The adress is 34 Connaught Avenue CO139PR Frinton-on-Sea.

They don't have a website so I copied a couple of picures from their Facebook page for the ones who don't do Facebook. :hungry:

611km for me, so yeah.. That's a no. Would also be a no due to too many people, and I don't do people well. But ye gods... That food looks good... ;)

I think if you have an extra bite for every single one of us who'd like to be there but can't make it, you'll be eating there until halfway through December, haha.

I hope everyone who does attend has bucketloads of excellent, guilt-free fun!

But, you'll be visiting London, and Frinton isn't that far at all.
So maybe go for the food with your own safe company when you're in the vicinity, and you can give us all a heads up on what to order!
I have ONE day where I can leave London for Windsor, the rest is all.... Positively jam-packed. Seven days and I still won't spend enough time there to do everything we want to do, really... We got a London Pass plus some extracurriculars going, and we plan to use it until the app gets burnt-out and my phone's smoking, our memory cards in the camera's filled to the brim with royalty-related stuff, hopefully Highgate, and the lion cubs at London Zoo. ;). But this has inspired me to look for keto friendly venues to eat at in the vicinity of our hotel, even if I did aim for just cat cafe's and the hotel's own restaurant prior to this... ;) (I have no illusions of making it to Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium, as it's too far out of the City and we're relying on the tube mostly, but there's others... Yes, I am obsessed and admit it freely.) Oh, that hotel restaurant has something called "Invisible Fries", if I remember correctly. You order them but don't get any, the money goes into some health fund or other for employees. Excellent idea, methinks. No carbs in that, either! :)

Just start a thread to ask for tips on keto friendly eating in London, the forum knows everything and can speak from experience rather than a google search!

...And get overwhelmed with a mass of responses? No thanks, haha. I already barely know how to fit everything in, I'm not sure we'll even have time to eat that week. ;) (Only partly joking. I'm capable of just having a few bifi sausages and call it dinner. Happened before, will happen again!) But seriously... There's so many caveats for me when it comes to dining out, it's not just the food, it's everything. (Too busy, lots of kids, tables too close together, ambiance, acoustics etc)... I wouldn't know where to begin. Besides, I need to not have to make reservations until the day-of at the earliest, because I have no idea what our days look like, except for Buckingham Palace-day, and Windsor Castle-day. (I do feel like a horrible tourist, but I just *really* love the pomp and circumstance of the whole royalty thing. Meghan didn't appreciate what she had!).

We'll be fine, I'm sure. Have some very happy memories of McDonalds in the UK too. ;)
