What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.0, but with a long and energy sapping day planned my breakfast was designed for a slow release of energy throughout the morning. For the diabetic zealot readers I shall not say what my breakfast was. The difficulty will be trying to pace myself throughout the day.

I had blood tests done yesterday by a very nice young lady, but if I get one of the results today it will mean another drop in my warfarin dosage, such is life.

A question for the koffy pod users amongst us, what are the pros and cons?

@Lamont D you have the patience of a saint and in all probability @ianpspurs could name the saint.

Now I must proof read this posting and then depart to the indoor rain cabinet. Stay safe all.

Bit of a rant here. Feeling overwhelmed with too many tasks outstanding. None huge, except the drive and the impending hedge cutting, but somehow feel unable to deal with them.
Am still waiting to hear if my friend was able to contact the builder and what he said. Meanwhile the agent has emailed a request for a viewing on thursday (tomorrow) morning, which is when the builder will probably be here. Think I will have to refuse this one unless I hear shortly that he will change his schedule, Really don't like messing people about like this, have not confirmed, or denied the appointment yet, but can't see an alternative. Besides that, the nasty, tarry drips behind the woodburner have not stopped yet. Have tried to clean up the mess, but not very successfully. Added check seal on flue to the growing list of jobs for MrSlim to tackle when he gets back. He is already exhausted. Working long days, seven days a week. Don't think list is something he will be thrilled about.
Did manage two of the smaller tasks myself yesterday, but the more technical jobs are not within my skill set.
Have mostly cleared the greenhouse, which now looks very sad, a couple of sweet pepper plants still gamely growing and a few weeds and plants left. Will need to bring the tiny lemon trees and the ginger plant indoors soon. And find somewhere to put the larger avocado plants. Difficult in a house with little natural light, esp when those plants need at least some warmth.
There are geraniums in troughs by the gazebo - do I attempt to keep them going for next year? Do I even want them? But years of thriftiness insist it would be wasteful to let them die of cold and damp. Then there are the stone troughs out the front, where tomatoes were growing. Looking a mess now those have been taken out. Maybe fill with pansies, or bulbs? Would not bother I wasn't trying to present house nicely. What about the strawberry plants still waiting to be planted, would the troughs do for the winter? STILL trying to complete weeding the drive, very fed up with that. Some windows remain in need of cleaning, have been gradually working my way around the house, only a few left now before repeating the round. Kiki is very good at leaving Nose and paw prints on many of them. After the builders visit the kitchen floor needs cleaning and my attempts to get the dirty drip water stains off the salon floor appear to have damaged the tiles. Perhaps some sort of polish will help there?
Also Bookchat is tomorrow afternoon and I haven't even chosen a book to talk about yet.

Koffy pods - aaaaaaahg! You must quickly fashion a hat made of tin foil.

Morning all.

No FBG, tho my new meds forxiga are not having any downside at moment.

I seem to be tolerating it rather well.
(Lucky really, only meds that ever really bothered me were asthma meds once, that I ended up stopping taking & begging docs to change prescription)

It's seemingly helping to lower my fbg though I am trying hard to improve my dietary control .

I do well, then the evil one turns up , whispers in my ear.
The thoughts of how close I came, and the madness that all this might not be real. (Yes I know I know ), and that whispers is i might die soon, so live & enjoy the moment.

Not had this before, so discipline is something I need to work on to get over this huge hump in my time line.

But on the plus side, the new meds are making me less hungry, and while not really trying, despite a huge lack of exercise of late, I'm losing a few pounds ..so happy with that.

A small offering to the creative possee.

The other morning I took this
Rather liked the clarity & colours.

And as tom Cullen* says
M. O. O. N. Spells MOON .

Fbg this morning 7.0.
The results of yesterday’s blood tests were reasonably good so if the swab is clear of infection the idea being proposed by the tissue viability nurse is something called vac dressings this will require a district nurse attending in order to instruct the surgery nurse on how to do it as it’s not something she would normally do.

Oh, @SlimLizzy .

So much falling on your shoulders .

And poor ol' Mr slim, already with a heavy workload.

Hard to say what's best.

Ideally, just prioritise & do what you CAN reasonably do .

Better to have the home unsold until later than find yourselves in hospital or worse with all the stress & worry and be leaving it as an inheritance for family.

I guess You bought it to enjoy ? and okay the timing might be wrong, but you can still enjoy it for now, right.

Simple words I know from one not suffering the overload, but well intentioned none the less.

Hoping you find a way that suits you best & allows you a little breathing space for a little 'Me' Time.

A good rant @SlimLizzy and I hope that you can now at least breathe. A great deal going on and some of it out of your control. As a not very good stoic I would suggest that anything that is out of your control (the chimney leak) should be taken off the worry list. And maybe a spot of polish will clean up those tiles and you can then cover them with something to prevent more tar soaked drips. One job at a time - talk to Kiki about it - cats seem to be good at listening to humans unloading. Make more koffy - not that decaf stuff though. Take care.

Good morning everyone on a cold and dull start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Still, a day to be enjoyed, and lived. You have to be in it to enjoy it. There are flu and Covid jabs to be had this morning - one in each arm both for me and then five minutes later the same exciting experience for Mrs Miggins. Now that’s living on the edge for you and a good excuse to have a walk down to the GP surgery and back. Now though, it is all quiet on the Eastern Front. I like the quiet of the morning and appreciate that Mrs Miggins likes to emulate Rip Van Winkle when her busy schedule allows. Art bit, Chì mi na mòrbheanna - or, mist covered mountains. I leaned the tune as a piper when in Boy’s Service - it was played at the late Queen’s funeral and I have no idea why that popped into my head. I hope your day is good to you. One moment, one thing. Multi tasking is so over rated. Best make some koffy.

All this stress is bad for you @SlimLizzy. Time to take a step back, reassess and decide what is the most important thing right now. Is is to sell the house right now? Is it to stay as healthy as you can while you wait for Mr Slim to be in a position to tackle the things you can't? Mental health affects your physical health, so that has to come into it as well.

It's your decision, of course, but I would look at that list of jobs and decide which I could tackle and which I could not. Look at the time available as well. Is showing a potential buyer the house one of the essentials at the moment? If that potential buyer came right now, would they want to buy/offer the price you want? In your position, I would cancel the viewing and decide which of the jobs are urgent then and work through a list of the ones I was capable of, at a sensible rate of progress. I would also select a book and join the Bookchat, if that is likely to ease the stress a bit.

Take some time for you.

Hugs for @SlimLizzy for the overwhelming lists of things to do personally I would cancel the viewing as it’s just one more thing added to the list and something you could do without.
I have cancelled the viewing because it has been impossible to change the appointment with the builder. Am hoping the agent doesn't decide to drive past anyway

Have cancelled the viewing, and am making coffee, decaff is all gone now so back on the good stuff. Thank you for your input.

4.8 this morning. Was really pleased with this reading. I thought - what a good start to the day.

Then fed Poppy. Half way through her breakfast she had an epileptic seizure. It was really scary. Never has had one before. When she recovered She finished her breakfast.

Vet was brilliant. Saw us as soon as the clinic opened. Has taken bloods and will ring us later with the results.
according to the vet - possible causes range from brain tumour, liver or kidney issues, inflammation or the possibility that we will never know what caused it.

We all agreed that, because she is nearly 15, we will not do anything invasive. So no point in doing an MRI.. So fingers crossed that she never has another one.

We have Diazepam to squirt up her bum if she had another episode. This should shorten any episode and calm her down. .

Vet has just rung. Blood tests exceptionally good for a dog of her age. All markers excellent. No inflammation or infection. Liver and kidneys are in tip top condition.

So now it is -:wait and see. It could be a brain tumour - or it could just be caused by old age. No-one knows.

She is happy and not in pain - so hopefully this continues.

You are so overloaded and on your own without Mr Slim there.
Do things just for you, whatever it is.
Take care xx
