What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I didn’t test today, it rarely changes and I usually forget. So, let’s guess at 5.9….
I saw my doctor yesterday, she’s simply the best and has been my greatest supporter for 15 years. She’s ok with me refusing statins, just wrote on my chart that I don’t tolerate them (I’ve never taken them). She gives me the tests I ask for (fasting insulin and c peptide this time) and never pushes anything on me. She’s ok with me eating only meat and eggs. Sadly she will be retiring very soon as she is quite unwell, I am devastated. Here in Canada it’s very hard to get a family doctor….there are zero available, I will not have a doctor. I have no idea how my prescriptions will get requested, how I’ll get bloodwork…..nothing. Going to emergency is our option, isn’t that crazy? There is a list I can go on for a doctor should spaces become available. Some pharmacies have virtual doctors…maybe that would help.
I am pretty upset but now I have some legwork to do.
dang….

Wow. What a doctor ! A rare breed wishing you luck to find a replacement

6.0 this morning, enjoying the 6's but only afew days left on Libre. Expect a jump of around 1.5-2 when back on the regular finger pricking.

lol. I have a libre on stand by meantime I’m finger pricking :-)

Libre 4.7 this morning
Went to gym & 7 & diabetic review at gp surgery after, nurse is the best, review all done, she rang ascensis as my meter is gobbling batteries & got them to replace it with the latest one (mines now obsolete) & changed prescription for test strips even managed to laugh about scaring each other when alc came back at 128 a couple of years ago

Doing some bloodwork this morning, I did check my blood sugar but it was a few hours after waking….i was fasting for the tests. It came in at a whopping 6.8. I just don’t understand…..no food since 5 pm last night, and it was carb free.
i got my cpeptide, fasting insulin and fasting sugars done. I’m super interested to see changes, if any, from my previous tests. I have quite a low fasting insulin (measured two years ago)and an average c peptide, which I find interesting. I will certainly post my results.
heavy frost last night, it was minus 2 here this morning. It’s plus 8 right now in the sun….really a stellar fall day. Out for a walk soon. I am in desperate need of some snow boots but couldn’t find any to fit this morning….a very narrow foot does not help. I will continue the quest tomorrow. The snow will fall soon…..
oh, yes I should be able to get on a doctor wait list now….I’ll call next week when I’m not so emotional.

- I’ve been experimenting with when I eat.

Yesterday the last bit of food was at 4

Blood glucose dropped to 5.4 a couple of hours later. Then 5.9 T bedtime

This morning it’s 6.1

Seems it’s not only what you eat but when

I have noticed the same when on CGM, my BG has two peaks, one around lunch irrespective of any food or fasting. The second peak is after dinner and obviously very carb dependent and peaks around 2hours after eating. When eating earlier, the before bed is fairly good and low however next day it starts again at a low about 3am but the same old steady uncontrollable rise until lunch. I can almost predict the readings without looking at the phone.
Unfortunately it just resets itself at night and goes through the exact same daily routine and frustratingly I don't have any control on the overall peak levels only the little foodie spikes along the way. Even exercise doesn't halt the overall rise
I am still in the experimental stage as I desperately want to ditch the metformin but I am floundering around at the moment.

Moan over, happy Friday and well done and hugs to all with their own personal struggles and successes.
