Not EATING properly!! Not SLEEPING!! Hate constantly having to jab myself with a needle!! Therefore SKIPPING meals!! Been waiting over a year to see endo again! Saw my DSN last week and she set a task for the receptionist to make me an appointment! Finally got offered an appointment today for tomorrow at 11:30am as there was a cancellation. I can’t make that appointment! So now how long am I going to have to WAIT!! KILL me now!!

That looks like my graph for today !
I also get large rises in the night. I have found the only thing that pretty much stops it is a very low (or zero) carb supper.
Can I suggest trying a meat salad for your evening meal a couple of nights running and see if the numbers come down.

Hi @Neckarski_94 I'm sorry that you are struggling at the moment. Did you ever get to go on a DAFNE course? That might help you resolve some of your issues and also stress less when your diabetes is uncooperative.

T1 diabetes is definitely a "long" game in my opinion, and sometimes you just get bad days (weeks/months?) . Experience has been a good teacher for me.

Sending you some virtual hugs from New Zealand.

Yes I did the DAFNE course. It all just went in one ear and came out the other! I honestly can’t do this anymore! It’s making me ill! Not to mention depressed!

We were given a course book that Dafne was based around, which was useful. Were you given one - if so, maybe have a read of that to refresh your memory of Dafne principles. You could also make your own notes of what you ate, bloods before and after food, spikes etc.

I'm sorry you're having a rough time with Diabetes. It can be difficult at times, and I also hate needles etc, but am grateful that they administer the insulin I rely on to live. Today's needles are so much smaller than when I was diagnosed nearly 60 years ago.

Hi,

Did you drink any alcohol last night?

I had something similar early this morning, myself.
The liver spends its time processing alcohol & neglects to put out glycogen which sometimes (I don’t trust it everytime.) reduces insulin action drop in BG.
Like a “parachute?”

Yes I was given one. Doesn’t mean I want to read it though. The DAFNE is a load of rubbish if you ask me but that’s just my opinion.

It’s not so much the needles that bother me. It’s having to inject to eat that’s making me not wanting to eat that’s the problem now!

Did you end up getting any help for depression in the end? I know you said that you were contemplating sertraline last year? Depression can make diabetes seem much worse and make it much more difficult to handle.

I didn’t take the sertraline that was prescribed for me in the end (don’t want to rely on happy pills that probably won’t have any affect on me) I did 7 sessions of Talking Therapies but that didn’t seem to help me.

Is it worth reconsidering a short dose or talking to your GP about alternatives? You don't have to keep taking them, whether or not they work....

I can't help thinking that you might find the diabetes much easier to cope with without the depression....
