To all members

Moderators have noticed that there seems to be an increase in posts where numbers are appearing as emojis and making posts difficult to read, we appreciate this must be frustrating for the poster and those trying to interpret the post.

This is more than likely that the poster is using the DCUK app to post, unfortunately both the android & IOS apps are out of date and in the process of being updated so not all the functions work as they should.

We advise that you use your browser to post anything on the forum rather than the apps. Below is the latest information on the app development from admin which was updated July 2024

Thread 'Diabetes Forum App'

Appreciate the work being done to fix this—looking forward to smoother posting on all platforms. Please keep us posted on any further developments.

For my part I only use the forum because of the app. I find accessing via the browser clunky and am faced with so much info to sort through. Have a definite aversion to it.

Great news. Thanks for the info, I’m so glad the app is being updated. I find it much easier to navigate than going through the browser on my phone. It has become increasingly problematic over the last year or two though and as a result I’ve used the forum less and less.

Tapatalk app works quite well and does not have the emoji issue

It's a good stand-in until the official app hits the stores

That’s what I’m using now, , but I’ve started having a few problems with this too in the last couple of days. Maybe it’s just my ancient phone!

I’m still not getting notifications so I’ve no way of knowing if I’ve been tagged or quoted.
Can you just double check in your preferences in your account that all the appropriate boxes for receiving alerts are ticked to your preferences, the preferences for alerts are near the bottom

It looks like it’s set up to send me notifications

Thanks for checking @DJC3, I’m not very techie at all, I’ll report it to admin but at the risk of telling my granny to suck eggs as they say - maybe try knocking them all of logging off then logging back in and resetting them.

If that works let me know

As to the numbers thingy I believe if your using tapatalk there’s sometimes a glitch that turns numbers to emojis

Im not techie either ( but I do know how to suck eggs ) I’ll try what you suggest - logging off etc and report back.
I wasn’t using Tapatalk just then (although I sometimes do ) it was directly from the DCUK app this time.
