Hi I’m julieclarke I’ve joined to find out more about T2 diabetes

Hi Julie, I can’t help but notice a lot of the foods and drink you say you consume are fairly high carb i.e Coke, Costa tuna melt, potato wedges, polos. I see you take Metformin and Trulicity. I have taken Metformin in the past and it did little to lower blood sugar, I put my control then down to diet. However I haven’t any experience of Trulicity, does it have such an effect that you can maintain control by taking it whilst eating a higher carb diet than I do? If you don’t mind could you share your last HbA1c result?
the only issue is that the last results i was given were back in January 2024 when i went to a Diabetic course, they suggested i eat more fruit and veg, only issue being that to get told to eat half a apple a day and a handful of grapes but as alot of people do is eat nearly the whole punnet, and they contain the most sugar content of 22 gms per grape. i dont drink milk or have milk products as i am not keen on its taste but i do eat alot of cheese which is high in fat content and can cause my carbs to spike. i dont eat rice pudding or semilina but i do eat rice, on veg wise, i dont have brussels or green beans, but i do eat the rest

Hi Julie, I thought you might find this link about low carb diets and diabetes interesting.

Not all diabetics like to follow a low carb diet but as you have been posting in the low carb forum I thought you might like to see more information about it. It can be very helpful in controlling diabetes.

i ate love hearts
I'm completely puzzled. I'm assuming love hearts are a type of candy?
Earlier tonight you mentioned eating a Mars bar. Both are very high sugar/carb.

You've joined because you want to learn more about diabetes, and you've had T2 for almost 20 years.
What would you like to learn about diabetes, do you have any questions?

they are my fav sweets what is your sweets do you have your fav foods
I have lots of favourite foods.
But I also have diabetes, which means I don't process sugar and carbs very well.

So I would never eat sweets just because I like them, they make my blood glucose go up way too high!
