MrSlim has almost finished in the cellar, ceiling insulated and clad, floor now has weed suppressant all over. Very much cleaner. Shelves up and he is now in the tiring process of filling them with things that were previously stored in the attics. So up and down three flights of stairs multiple times a day. One of the attics needs to be cleared - he is going to install the VMC in there. He has already (yesterday) replaced the wooden shutter with a double glazed window, which has the best view of all of them. Such a good view it could become my favourite room, except that it is still dusty and dirty.
Kiki to the vet for booster vaccination.
Ouch €76. €46 for the jab and then €30 for the consultation. Huh. She spent a couple of minutes trying to persuade me that Kiki needs her very expensive cat food - and charged me for the two minutes. Kiki has put on weight again. Apparently ALL cat food sold in supermarkets is the dietary equivalent of McDonald's. Surely not all of it. Next time we may well take Kiki back to the previous vet - a 20 minute drive away. Convenience isnt everything.
I am convinced that Kiki is gaining weight due to lack of exercise. And I can't think how to change that. Previously Kiki and I would go for walks most nights. Down the lane and around our land. Probably about a kilometre. She would run, hide, jump out at me, climb trees and pretend to be stuck. Then race after me if I walked away. A very good workout for her that often left her panting like a dog. Playing with her is not the same. I think she gets bored with it and gives up. Am trying to think of a quiet place we could go, but we would need to traverse this very busy road to get anywhere. I can't see how it could be managed.

The only thing I can think of is an extending cat lead

But to get her over the road first, you need a cat basket and there are plenty that are just soft material which you could easily carry her to a field. But then she will still need to be on an extending cat lead. You couldn't let her run free, not with a busy road in between @SlimLizzy

8.7 today at 05.00. I actually managed to stay in bed from 02.00 to 05.00. 3 whole hours! Well, perhaps a bit broken, but still 3 hours horizontal. New hip pain is worse as a result, but that should sort itself out soon - due my 2nd lot of painkillers.

Rose to 9.7 after tea and insulin but down to 6.0 after breakfast and more insulin.

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.

This afternoon my schedule is off to the doctors to get my legs treated and new dressing applied. Therefore in a few minutes I will be dosing myself with painkillers and morphine. I don’t need sympathy, which if you’re interested lies between stools and syphillis in the dictionary.

At the moment things are so busy in Tilehurst Towers I’m struggling to keep up with posts. Sorry

I hope the afternoon goes well. Never mind keeping up with us on here - just so long as we know you are still OK (despite the legs, of course).

Or better yet get arrangements made in August... no cattery places available now
at times because of Mrs L, chrimbo could be anytime of the year. And certain chrimbo oddities are abound in the front room. And her latest train snow globe is loud and proud on the fireplace shelf.
Never mind the Angel that suddenly appeared whilst out last week.

Well, @alf_Josiah I will only empathise. It's not so easy here. But we just do what we can.

All my best and hope the appointment goes well.

6.1, the first time I tried it was 10.8.
So obviously a rogue reading, I hoped. So I retested. I had just cleaned the bathroom and I could still smell bleach on my hands, so I scrubbed before I retested. It worked.
Mrs L is having an up and down day. Still no results.
It is raining again and windy and getting very dark earlier. More foliage in the front garden (again)
My best wishes to you lot as always.

Another page in my sketchbook...
I had bought some shaving brushes in different sizes, because I was experimenting in stippling the backgrounds. And then I did some paintings completely with the shaving brushes and this was one of them... but obviously I used a finer painting brush for the branches and tree trunks...

I managed to get my Amazon parcels this morning. But there was still a problem with the medicines and the owing medicines at the pharmacy. I went to the till and the lady looked on the computer and said oh yes, they are here, we just have to make them up if you wait. So I sat on my walker, and waited and waited... I was about to go back to the till when the pharmacist came out. I'm very sorry she said we haven't got them in, we will have to order them...
I am confused. But you sent me a text to say my medicines were ready for a collection., and at the till just now the lady said oh yes, your medicines are in we've just got to make them up, and now you come out 20 mins later and say you don't even have them. I think my voice was very sharp at this point. And she didn't like it. We will text you when they are ready she said... and she walked back into the back of the pharmacy...
Actually, this is not the first time this has happened exactly like this... last time she said oh it's a mistake we texted you that they were ready...

I had to do something else after the pharmacist, and that was tiring as well. So when I finally got home, I was exhausted and I went to bed for the afternoon.

I was furious that the pharmacy had wasted my precious time and energy. And like I said, this is not the first time....

I have prepared a written piece which I will print out and keep in my bag should it happen again...I may make it a bit shorter...this is my first draft...
“I understand these things happen, but I received a text saying my medicines were ready, and I was also told they were being prepared. I’ve waited quite a while, so could you please double-check what’s happened and make sure I’m updated correctly next time? It’s hard for me to make extra trips when I’ve already come in after being told they were ready.” And I will hand the pharmacist that, instead of speaking it because it made me upset today.

Good night
Sweet dreams...

Quiet day expected today so it's a day when I should try to do some of those domestic chores which should take me about 5 minutes, but will take a few hours (with lots of breaks in between). Just waiting for painkillers to kick in and let me have another doze in the chair - not exactly the best start for the day, but what a girl's got to do ...

I have a chair that I bought in an auction in 1970. It was in a terrible state - brocade fabric in shreds as though a big cat had attacked it but a shape that I loved. At the time we didn't have either the sense or the cash to re-cover it in an appropriate material and my parents gave us some tan coloured faux leather but not enough to cover all the furniture we had to work on so the seat of the chair was covered in tweed. It was not a good look. All these years later, I want to replace the cover but I also want to find out more about the chair. I have never seen another one like it. It's probably early 20th century and not of any great value so it doesn't appear on any antique websites. This morning at 04.00 there was a programme called "Salvage Hunters" on TV which I sometimes pass some time watching. And there was my chair! It was in the house of a client of the antique dealer. I just got a brief glimpse of it but it was the same as my chair, but with a better cover. I think I will get in touch with the dealer and ask if I can somehow get in touch with the owner of that chair to find out what he knows about it.

Morning all
An early start for work today brings a high reading of 15.0 having gone to bed with a reading of 9.9
GCM has shown I’ve been high all night from about 1am, ( 13-15.7) and that seems consistent readings most nights
Any suggestions welcome today is day 5 of 500mg metformin with breakfast

Does the Metformin have to be with your breakfast? Perhaps with your last meal of the day would work better for you. I don't know if that is possible, but your diabetes practitioner should be able to advise you on that.

Good morning @LouT

I take 500mg Metformin in the morning and 500mg in the evening. I am not sure what advice I can offer. Are you taking the metformin with food?
