I haven’t posted for a while but I’ve been seriously unwell. I went to hospital on January 5th and haven’t been home since. I can somewhat use my arms now but have no fine motor skills and my legs don’t work properly, currently bed bound but with physio I should get function back.

It was good, but I miscalculated!!! A local coffee shop has been vegan for a few years now and they have malasadas, banana bread, macaroons, bagels, bowls etc that are all vegan. Of course a variety of plant based milks too. The malasada's go fast, they are really good, he gets them twice a week and they are gone half the time by noon. We were at the Farmer's Market and it was already 11 so we called to make sure he still had some and the person who makes the malasadas went to the mainland to visit friends this week. So he got another baker who has made vegan banana bread to try to make cinnamon rolls.

Gees, sooo good!!! I'm guessing about 150-180 carbs because I used to get Cinnaholic cinnamon rolls and I remember they were around 120-150 ??? I ate half and had two coffee latte's, so 80 and 30 in the latte part add probably a little extra as they are bigger so 150 should be good as half of it right????.

And watched my sugars go up to 12mmol (217mg) hmm, lets take another 5 units as once it's so high it takes more. Drop down to 8.5 mmol (150mg) and stubbornly sitting there for hours. Okay another 5 units and get on my exercise bike.

Of course while I'm riding I looked up the carbs in a Cinnaholic cinnamon roll. 78 in the roll and another 30 in the icing. But this cinnamon roll was a lot larger, denser too because not a yeast dough, had a lot more raisin filling and a horde at least half inch high of icing. So 2 times plus on the roll, and probably 5 times plus on the icing. 160 and 130 at a min, and I bet it might have been more like 320 plus lol...... half is 145-160 carbs??? And add the lattes? I think the only reason I didn't go higher is because I also used a couple of Afrezza doses. Yea, not enough in dosing!!!!

He is going to start getting them in now, they were so popular. They are sooo good, so I know I will get them again. I might have to try a quarter of it and see if I can dose better. I haven't had a good cinnamon roll for 2 years when my hubby brought me back some Cinnaholic ones when he visited his mother.

And of course now dropping too low so had a couple more bites of cinnamon roll which isn't absorbing as fast as I would like. So maybe some Sugarloaf pineapple too which I just got from the Farmer's Market!

Update, yea the pineapple did it and the cinnamon roll bite and I'm going up. Just at 7mmol right now, but I might get on my bike some more. Roller coaster day!
 
I can get away with dosing for about an inch square of the cinnamon roll lol! The other half is lasting a while!
That DAFNE philosophy doesn't take in to account the times we throw caution to the wind!
Strangely enough being coeliac does help as i don't eat anything with wheat in and the free from alternatives are not as good and expensive however i do like a beer which leads on to crisps and the like but thankfully gf beer is quite expensive.
Mine are nighttime binges and that in itself makes life a bit tricky when i want to go to bed.

There is only 1 day a year where i eat a large meal during the day and that is christmas day as my poor wife doesn't want to spend all day cooking yet i cannot eat one half of what i eat at 6pm.

I wonder why that is .....
