What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from a dull but wonderfully quiet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north.
5.9 this morning doe to mindless food choices yesterday.

We have been in Norfolk this week. The broads at this time of year are not crammed with would be Captains Courageous - wondering what all those whistle blasts mean while careering about like a deer trying to outsmart a lion.
Norwich was interesting, especially a pub called The Belgian Monk which offered up a wide selection of Belgian beer.

I hope you are all as good as you can be. I shall brew some koffy and wait to see if the sun makes an appearance.
Am so pleased that you had a lovely time in Norfolk @dunelm.
I have often walked past The Belgian Monk, but have never been inside.

You are doing really well @Lamont D. Really good to hear from you.

7.7 at 02.35.

Bright and sunny out there today and comparatively warm.

Sheep in the garden last night so Neil has decided that he needs to repair a lot more of the fence than he had thought. The fence at the bottom of the garden leads through to the croft where the sheep are supposed to be contained. There's a bit of doubt about the side fence as well, which also is a boundary with the croft. Unfortunately, the suppliers of fence posts and wood are shut until Monday now so he's had to prop up the existing fence and build a kind of barricade to try to keep the beastly beasts away from our shrubs and trees.

I needed Neil's help yesterday to try to get my scanner to work - it's one of those all in one printer/scanner/photocopiers and I'd never used the scanner function. He came and had a look but refused to do anything until I cleared up the desktop and filed everything away that I had been saving there. True enough, there was no space for any other files to be saved so I sat and did that and now the screen is remarkably clear when I log in. Just hope I can find all those essential files when I want them. Glad to say, the scanner worked well and I have scanned in quite a few family photos for a cousin who had few family pictures. She has quite a few now.

What a lovely photo of your grandmother @Annb

5.8 this morning.

Our drive into Norwich was a bit of a magical mystery tour this morning. The whole of the A47 between our market town and Norwich is closed until 6am Monday morning.g

It was actually rather n nice to travel through the country lanes in the sunshine. Then I had a proper lunch break for a change. Which I don't often get on a Saturday. So a really good day

Sounds like some real progress is being made in a rubbish situation @Lamont D !
Make sure to advocate for just the type of wheelchair that will help you get along best.

Wishing you all the best again, and admiring your resilience and taking it all in your stride!

(And I hope you won't have to deal with bed pans anymore in the near future.)

It sounds as though things are coming along well, @Lamont D. Getting out in the sun must have made you feel a bit better - apart from the sunburn. Keep up the good work. I'm sure we all admire your grit and determination.

Thinking of both you and Mrs L and praying for a happy outcome for you both.

The beer garden is quite pleasant once the sun gets onto it and of course if you like Belgian beer…
Didn’t get up past Horning but had a smashing week.

Good morning everyone from what may be a sunny day here in the dark and dangerous north.
5.7 this a.m.

It’s our annual family weekend next week - as it has been for the past 15 or so years, with a small break for lockdown when people toyed with the idea of home improvements.
So, Ambleside this year, 25 adults and a gaggle of the latest generation. Menu’s have been set so Mrs Miggins and our daughter will be sending in a shopping order to be delivered to the venue next Friday afternoon.

Smashing photo of your grandmother @Annb and pleased for you that things seem to be moving along well for you @Lamont D .

Hope your day contains a good spoonful of joy. I shall finish my koffy and then I think it will be a walk down through the woods and along the prom.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.

Blood sugars this morning were 8.1

My shed / workshop is calling, also koffy is needed.

Mrs J is Mordor bound this morning and I am left stranded and unsupervised, my possibilities are endless as long as stay in Tilehurst Towers.
Have the very best day you can and spare a thought for the unprepared runners taking part in the London marathon.
Now away be I

8.8 at 05.20 today. Late to bed and late to drag myself out of bed after an oddly unsettled night. Just drinking coffee and wishing it had the power to revive me. I know it doesn't though. Caffeine never seems to have a revitalizing effect on me.

The sky is bright even though there is a high, grey cover of clouds. Today, the sun is not any danger to our imaginary pavements. This is a village where the roads were cut out first by people's feet, then by sheep being driven from place to place, then by horses and carts, then tractors. They didn't allow width for pavements when they were adopted by the council and tarmacked. My front door is about 12 feet away from the centre of our road.

My cherry tree is blossoming at last!

5.8 this morning.

I really enjoyed my lesson plan for classes this week.

It was also nice because I had a much longer break than usual today.

Interesting journey home. The highways people decided to close the A47 Southern bypass with no warning. Thank goodness Mr K was driving. He never gets lost because he has a superb sense of direction. I don't like driving in the dark along country lanes I don't know.

5.7 at 04.45 today. One cup of coffee plus painkillers and water brought it up to 8.2. Don't know why. Never mind - another cup of coffee won't make it worse, I don't suppose.

GP appointment today to discuss echo cg result. I've asked Neil to come in with me so that he can explain to me what I don't understand, can remember what I forget and can hear what I miss. Then we'll do the shopping, including those fence posts that Neil needs to fix the fence.

I have zero sense of direction, and feel your stress.
Me too. Some years ago I had to take Tom to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for an appointment. His dementia had already become quite advanced. Trying to get back to our hotel from the hospital after dark, I took a wrong turn and ended up going down country lanes trying to get back to the town and start again. Despite his dementia, his sense of direction was better than mine and he managed to guide us back to where I had gone wrong so we could find our way back to the hotel. Maybe that was either why or because he was a good navigating officer when at sea.
