Has Rye bread really got no carbs? Just saved the pic of tortoise and strawberry. so cute..I know what u mean about shopping taking forever. Wish they would print the contents on the food packages a bit bigger, feel I need to take a magnifying glass with me.:p Glad ur doing good. Keep it up. I get my HBA1C results tomorrow and I'm dreading them. Just after Christmas, and a trip to India, is not a good time to go for it, but if it's ok I know I'm not going too far wrong. Wish me luck.:wacky:

You might want to recheck the rye bread carb levels. It will most definitely have some. It will probably be slow release and much better than white bread, but there will be some carbs.

Hi Lenny 00.3 so it says
Ray, I haven't commented before but I've been following your progress with great interest and you're doing an amazing job! :). However I think there is a mix up over this rye bread thing. Earlier you said you found it in the biscuit aisle of the supermarket so.... Is it actually bread? because if it really is then a lot of us low carbers will want some :) Whats the brand name?

Exactly right Beachbag, I was wondering if they might be crackers.

Right it called Ryvita whole grain rye crisp bread carbs per 100g is has follows 66.6g per slice 6.7g cal 230g of which sugars is per 100g 2.9g 0.3g cal 90g and if you think it's too dry put some butter on it and a thin spread of peanut butter yummy it works for me
Sorted! Thanks Ray. I used to eat those but couldn't settle for just the one so have given them up, lol. ;)

I did learn early on last week not to eat bread at all has it just rockets up my Bg ie just like spuds pasta cakes ect ect ect never again will I eat those foods that jump my Bg up to a level where my Bg is of scale
Yep, it's not worth being ill for is it.

Like take tonight had a super salad but the thing I put on my salad was Branston pickle boy did it shoot up my Bg take a look at the carbs in that you will be amazed :)
Yes Ray, it's horrendous how much is hidden away in the small print! and I'm finding the small print is getting smaller, but no doubt that's due to my age which is getting bigger!! ;)

Food labels are very misleading, even more so when you don't know what you're looking for! When I was first diagnosed I was snacking on bags of pretzels, thinking it was fine as they had no sugar :( then I learnt to carb count!

My carb counting is now getting a lot better then it was last week when I was first diagnose my shopping use to take 20 minutes but now over 2. Hours lol
As you get more used to counting carbs and knowing what works for you, it'll get faster. I've been low carbing since last October and shopping is much easier now, but I'm always on the look out for new things to try. :)
