That sounds idyllic Douglas. I hope it becomes a reality for you soon. At the moment I'm keeping myself going by believing things always get better. Thanks for reminding me to have big beautiful goals.

Filling in forms! ;)
Being by the sea. I own a static caravan just half an hours drive from my house, but it's a different world! A huge beach which is never busy, even during the holiday season it's often just me, my dog and a load of sea birds! There's no clubhouse, no through traffic, no shops....frequently no mobile phone signal and rarely any internet access either, lol. There is a pub, a mile away by country lane or a bit longer across the beach, up through the dunes and the woods.....just watch the tide! I love to be there whatever the weather, walking on the beach, over the cliffs, watching the birds and wildlife, beach combing, doing jellyfish counts etc, taking pics and generally being part of a world so many people never see, because they're too busy to simply "stand and stare". I am SO lucky! :)

That sounds ideal Beachbag, very envious of you having all that on your doorstep!

My wife and kids keep me going and hope one day to see some little grandchildren too, apart from that I just enjoy life and appreciate each day as it comes.

Yep! I live a couple of hundred yards from the nearest beach and its a wonderful life. Unfortunately that particular beach is always very busy, but we have another 3 miles of so of beaches that start only 500 yard away and which are practically deserted all year round simply because it involves walking more than a couple of hundred feet from your car! People are so lazy, they are missing out so much, but all the better for me. With the coast paths and canal paths around here I can cycle 30 miles and see very few people on the way, those I do see are all concentrated around the places where you can park a car.

I've already done many of the things on my bucket list but generally its just my joy of life plus family and friends that keeps me going.

for me its being really rich and living in a massive gaff with all the things shallow people like :) this dosent keep me going, the need to be around for the kids and help them when they need it keeps me going, but i could do that and have the massive house, and servants too now that i think of it, maybe a full time low carb chef and one of those massive smart TVs and sports cars in the quadruple garage i never drive and and and......

An awful lot.
In Any order

Reading l love books.

Facebook... when my husband passed l took over his facebook sadly he didn't post much so not much back reading but his friends have become mine and they have kept me going through my Mums problems and life in general while my own and husbands family walked off and left me.

I took up kayaking and love it, not much since september due to holiday then the blasted diabetes diagnosis and winter looking back to getting on the water though.

My new husband Andy great sense of humour, cooks brilliant, supportive totally inept at DIY l won't even trust him on a stepladder., doesnt drive but like his electric bike now.

Brian who passed is still with me.. not something l believe l know. He was an electrician and did everything could drive, cooked as he had to my cooking is toxic. Didn't have an electric bike.

This is a case of identity theft.

OK, I'm not rich and it's only a double garage but it does have an upstairs and I do the cooking but the servants appreciate it. Also I live in a field with adjacent woodland which gives me no excuse not to do the daily walking which DN says I have to do. There are no cars in the garage because of all the other stuff in there. The cars go in the car port.

What keeps me going is the thought of DN's face when I get my Hba1c.

Douglass, I'd love to that as well, I'd take an old 110 or forward control landrover, rebuild it from chassis up and turn it into an expedition vehicle.

Personally, I'd love to be able to make it rich adn then quit early enough to do my dream job. I'd love to go back and study enough to be able to become a personal trainer able to cover the whole range of disciplines from physiology, psychology, injury management, dietary management, performance management. There must be an opening for that somewhere, even specialising in doing that for diabetics. I'd also want enought spare time to be able to enter all those dream race, which of course I'll win my age group.

In reality, I'll probably end up working til I get retired and maybe managing to buy myself a bling bike somewhere along the way

When my husband retires, we plan to downsize and buy a small flat overlooking the sea. Any dosh that's leftover from the house (??!) we will spend on travelling, good food and relaxing. Our pwttycat will be an elderly gentleman by then so he'll get the snuggliest bed and just sit and watch the waves. Nothing hugely earth shattering but the though of being able to spend long days together without stressing about work and rushing about like maniacs sounds ideal and keeps me going. And of course the thought that someday soon there will be a cure.

Crowds of people, my idea of hell would be a huge gathering of any sort!

Heights, scare me to death!
Liars, cheats. poseurs, any kind of violence, thieves and people who take advantage of others.

The way the world is going to hell in a handbasket.

Global warming, the melting ice caps, whaling..I mean what for?!

Cruelty

Having to give up my eat everything philosophy..and I really really dislike consequences.
What keeps me going? The fact that every day we have together is a bonus. Johnny was diagnosed 5 years ago with a Cardiomyopathy and fills up with drugs every day but the prognosis before these wonder drugs was only 2 or 3 years after diagnosis so we are doing okay! Yay! Doc said that he only usually saw these cases on the slab o_O

For myself it's getting my T2 under control which I am doing okay with but we would like to have a holiday, a cruise would be great, just imagine it, c'mon Lotto, play ball.....maybe I should buy a ticket first ;)

It's nice being able to have someone to do something together, something we have in common even if it's only standing side by side gulping down copious drugs each morning.....awwwwwwww ;)

I fancy exploring the norwegian coast using the coastal ferry services provided by Hurtigruten, literally a sort of hop on hop off service.

This sounds amazing! I have a burning wanderlust that I need to satisfy soon. Scandinavia has always been really appealing to me but the closest I've actually been is Holland.
