Any one else here suffer from Dupuytren's Contracture...?
It is an odd one this as I have it in my right hand but the doctors never link it to my diabetes however 2 people I know locally with diabetes both have it on both there hands to there is a statistic. Then my brother who is not diabetic developed it in both hands and it has developed quickly there seems to be a lot of factors drink diabetes etc etc that compound to make it happen. Any intricate moement with the hand, tendons and sheaths and poor control can accelerate this. Keep things moving I flatten the hand with force each day as a matter of stretching which my doctor says is a good idea and have managed to keep the hand and fingers flat since I noticed it develop 15 years ago. Its the same as I have said before how it binds tendon up is strong bur the will of the mind is stronger so keep things moving.
I had/have it on the ring finger of my right hand. Never really caused me any bother (Except when diving, my OK hand sign looked wierd) I left it till it was stuck at 90 degrees before I got treatment. Was a half hour surgery job to get it fixed, out of hospital in a few hours. 6 years later, no signs of it returning.Any one else here suffer from Dupuytren's Contracture...?

Hello. I have Dupuytren's Contracture in both hands and quite server on my right hand little finger. It will be operated on in the next few months. It is apparently quite common in diabetics. I have a painful right shoulder that with daily exercise I prevent freezing. The consultant stated that the same thickening substance that forms in the fingers also forms in the shoulder joints. Just for interest and do any of you other posters have or had problems with a frozen shoulder?
All I can suggest is keep streaking the shoulders. I put my arm over the opposite shoulder and gently push the elbow in the direction of the shoulder that the arm is over. Hope that makes sense, maybe we should start yoga?I have DC but it's not that bad at the moment. However, my shoulders are bad. Very limited movement, can't touch my hands behind my Bach etc. I put it down to years of playing rugby but since reading the posts can see it may be linked to my type 1. Any advice
