the fat makes you feel not hungry alot later on, if i eat fat i dont get hungry until my next meal time, if i dont eat fat im hungrier alot sooner therefore eat between meals therefore eating "un needed extra calories"

The right diet is the one that works for you, not me.
We're all different, but we'll all suggest what works for ourselves personally.
Eat to your meter, and you'll find yours.

Very true.
You eat beans on toast with butter now then, and reckon it works for you?
I'm glad you endorse a bit of good healthy low GI food at last.

lol on the contrary i believe eating beans on toast tantamount to eating arsenic, its suicide, in my opinion but hey im just following your advice and eating the diet that works for me, and eating to my meter.

makes me wonder about the link between diabetes and mental health

one of us is insane :) i wonder who it is

Well I eat beans on toast, without fat, have good bs, good weight control, and suggest that to the op based on my experience.
You don't eat beans on toast, as you believe it's poison, but suggest that the op just add fat to his, as you works for you, but then again admit you don't actually eat it, you just reckon it would be good as fat improves any meal regardless? Even though you believe it's suicide? And still recommend that for the op?

Hmm, I do wonder the same as you.

i didnt suggest adding fat to anything, i dont add extra fat to anything ever, why would i? i have plenty of fat in the foods i eat, i was responding to your suggestion that eating the fat is pointless

Douglas, whatever this is about-let it go and move on-it helps no-one.

Maybe you should have read the thread from the start, rather than agreeing that the op should replace his low fat spread on his toast with high fat butter, before simply agreeing with the high fat posts?

If you don't agree he should simply be buttering his toast, fair enough then.
We'll agree he shouldn't, if he sticks to beans on toast, it doesn't need added fat, if he doesn't lchf.

If you have a useful comment for the op, post it.
If you'll simply stalking my posts, it doesn't help him.
You've killed a few threads with your vendetta against me, let this one go.

Hello ! Type 2 here HP1AC 8.4 at last blood test.

OK - So I have never really liked Breakfast cereals, and tend to skip it, recently I re-discovered beans on toast.

I have it with wholemeal bread and low fat non-butter spread and lower sugar baked beans. One slice and the smaller can size.

Doesn't seem to affect my BSL too badly. I am metformin 500mg, but have my yearly review (well 3 month) next week.

What the opinion on this ? Any other suggestions ?

Other suggestion for you is possibly one of my own firm favourites :joyful:

Scrambled eggs with lean bacon well done oven baked .
2 eggs with knob of best butter - 2 lean rashers of back bacon .

Hardly spikes my BG levels .
Tasty breakfast and quick n easy to make too

i thought id read it, what i gained from this post is "is it ok to eat beans on toast?" so straight away i think "no its not" then i see others seeing the responses and thinking beans on toast is ok for us all, this scenario is now scarey, then i see you telling folks eating fat is pointless so here i m poking my nose in

These kind of spats are the reasons why forums fail.

I was looking for advice and what people thought for ME. No one else.

I also find a couple of ryvita, I like the dark rye, with a bit of low fat cheese, and ham works well for me.
It's now become my usual breakfast.

Ryvita isn't one of my favourites mind, but will try it ! Ta !

There's a whole range of them now though, worth checking them out, and testing after each variety.

The rye with low fat cottage cheese is ok too.

huh? i thought we were discussing beans on toast and the wisdom in adding a spread to the toast, which has lead to a discussion on fat in general, its very hard to discuss things, isnt ryvita a digression? m i allowed to mention ryvita? as that technically isnt beans on toast related?

if for example i was to contradict the advice or suggestion to add low fat spread to the ryvita would that be considered going off topic, starting a spat or anything else unpleasant? or would it be better to stay away from anything i have an opinion on?
