I have just been diagnosed with T2 and am awaiting an appointment with a dietitian. I am overweight and although I have previously lost weight on an Atkins diet my doctor has warned me I cannot do this again, I have cut out all cakes and sweets ( I have a sweet tooth) but have also been told no berries but I can eat apples and bananas. Obviously it is all a little confusing right now but would it be useful for me to get a monitor and are there any models which are particularly good. Would I also need to buy strips? I am to be tested again in three months to assess my weight and what difference dieting has made to my blood sugar levels.
