Bygone days ....

But maybe that is why I am now part of this community!!!

I would rather not be a part of this community.
It's the hotel California in life ... you can check out but you can never leave.

I remember spending ages listening to a busker sing Hotel California in Paris in the 80's. I don't think he knew any other songs.

That is not actually true. I was prediabetic but not anymore. I am not diabetic. I stay because of the information that is on here and I can believe the way that this forum doesn't follow the wrong path to healthy eating as our health practitioners want us to.

I also like the banter!
Don't get me wrong you're all very informative and mostly good fun but I never for a moment thought I would end up on a suport forum so I'd rather it hadn't happened ... it has so I'll enjoy your company folks ... out of need.

what I like about this forum is that I haven't come across any trolling. I belonged to another unrelated health forum, which was much smaller, and it was taken down by the charity that was sponsoring it because of continued abuse and trolling, quite sad.

Oh we get some here too....but the moderators do a really good job. :) lol that's my 'creep of the day' done;)...back to the housework now:(

Yes...but did anyone actually have a mother who listened to it with them? Mine didn't.... You see they used radios and TV's as babysitters way back then, didn't they?....Or was it just my Mum who did that?

edit: lol I'm not complaining.....the radio wasn't the worst babysitter she chose for me:rolleyes:

cannot remember whether it was before or after "workers playtime"?

Light Programme, Third Programme and Home Service. Who remembers Walter Gabriel in the Archers? I've only been an avid Archers listener for a few years, but Mrs Sanguine remembers when all the current 40-somethings were kids. Pick of the Pops with Alan 'Fluff' Freeman on Sunday afternoons, followed by that sinking feeling knowing that you had to go back to school next day and still hadn't done the weekend's homework.

That must have been between 2-way family favourites ('hello Cologne, here's a request for so-and-so, BFPO etc) and the comedy hour at 2.

Not the radio! Only listened to Radio Luxemburg then Radio Caroline. Only place to get decent music. IMHO!

Just remembered Bootsie and Snudge!

When I say no radio I meant music wise cos I use to listen to The Goons!

Ooh Nelly!

!

and Radio North Sea International!

They all had the up and coming DJs who went on to better things, but more recently not such better things.

Caroline had Tony Blackburn who promoted Northern soul and Motown.
All you got on the Beeb was Elvis Beatles and Rolling Stones. The who and Small Faces were ignored for the Liverpool beat or CM, which was highly overrated. Rock and roll was still being played in the seventies. Don't get me going on Brit Pop! Or modern synthesised music!
