exactly this Alexmbrennan "With every scan you get your current glucose reading, the last 8 hours of glucose and an arrow showing the direction your glucose is heading."
It would be nice if you were more positive

Yes, but the description says that the sensor stores and transmits 8hs worth of data whenever you scan it with the meter, which means that you could get a whole day's coverage by scanning the sensor every 8h - are you saying that this is incorrect? From Abbot's homepage:
"With every scan you get your current glucose reading, the last 8 hours of glucose and an arrow showing the direction your glucose is heading."

That is how i understood it,
the sensor takes a reading every 15 mins, storing up to 8 hrs on the sensor,
when you scan the sensor the last 8 hrs readings are transmitted to the meter, showing you the latest reading and a trend,
The meter stores upto 90 days readings.

With every scan you get your current glucose reading AND the last 8 hours of glucose history and an arrow showing the direction your glucose is heading
I know as I did a trial
You get a reading everytime you scan the meter over the sensor. You can scan it every few minutes if you want

it give you a reading wheneve you scan the meter over the sensor. Its not CGM

I mentioned the cost of test strips as most diabetics get at least 200 stips per month which should work out the same or even less than 2 sensors per month PLUS you get more readings. Stores up to 90 days of glucose data
-Provides a complete glucose picture over 3 months - Take the AGP interactive tour on the home link
Do you know what it's going to cost (roughly)?

Im not allowed to say anymore than what is said on the website. Its going to be the best product on the market when its released and will be on sale online initially. Thats all folks.
The AGP is amazing. I hope that all diabetes specialists and teams start working with AGP.

I have been following snippets about it for some time, this week's email basically saying 'it's just around the corner' has got me itching to get my hands on one.

You are such a tease! I don't wanna get my hopes up that this might be something I could afford, only to have them dashed.

i hope its affordable because I am definately buying one as soon as it is released. Its a blood glucose meter with special AGP software. Its not like its a pump or a CGM. If the Omnipod PDM only cost £300 and that is a insulin pump, then I am sure it will be cheaper.

Hello all,
mounting the sensor would need to be a more permanent item much better than the CGM system, if you are a bit like myself and sweat when working or walking the CGM sensor disconnects and you get no information.

I thought I read somewhere that the sensor needs to be kind of "implanted" under the skin in local anesthetic by a medical professional? Is that correct?

How's with the accuracy compared to BG tests and CGM (since its also using the interstitial fluid)?

The DCUK article posted earlier in the thread says the sensor is stuck to the skin, I do wonder myself about the accuracy compared to bg testing.

If this comes out at a reasonable cost, I'm in. Just think what it could do for diabetics who are into sport, no more stopping for a finger-prick test, just wave the doofer over the whatsit and have a look while carrying on, back to true eating on the run.

And no more blood over your paperwork or what ever else you are doing, in so many ways it will be much better than the finger prick test.

I have a vague recollection that I read somewhere (don't ask me where) that this would be priced at around the cost of a heavy user of strips - like equivalent to 300 strips/month. Might only have been speculation from a review or something.

In that case we can only hope it's the same cost as the SD Codefree strips Robert ;)
