The buuter and eggs sound nice.
Breakfast:
Wheetbix x4,
Brown bread with butter x2
@this is too difficult two - My local, not very big, ASDA stocks 9 bars. I haven't tried one though.Lol
Order online.
That way, you don't even have to waste calories going shopping!
There are several different flavours. The ones that have the least BG impact (for me) are the peanut, the indulge choccy ones, and the new black pepper one.
It was @Spiker who put me on to them in the first place.
He's my hero...![]()
Did you test your glucose 2 hours after breakfast.
Four wheatabix and two slices of brown bread is about 85 grams of carb, which seems rather a lot.
Most diabetics would find it difficult to keep their 2 hour after breakfast reading within 2 mmol of their before reading with so many carbs.
This was suggested to me by the dietitian before I left the hospital, She wanted me to put more weight on. I was 53kg when I was admitted. She also said I should eat a piece of fruit with my breakfast. I don't check my readings after each meal, but since I came here I've realized its important to do so, so tomorrow I will.
Bazza I now realize that you are on insulin, a fixed dosage regime. I have no experience of using insulin but I understand that the important thing is to match carb intake and insulin dosage. It is a somewhat different game to being diet controlled or on oral medication alone. It is possible that your dietician suggested the particular breakfast to match the dosage of insulin you have been prescribed. This was suggested to me by the dietitian before I left the hospital, She wanted me to put more weight on. I cant find one under 25g carbsNoooo
Just google 9bar.
A 9bar is a yummy nutty seedy bar that has about 15 g carbs in it - but because they're all nutty and seedy, they don't impact my BG more than a smidge.
At 3.30 today I was peckish, and had one of these:

And an hour later, my BG had risen by 0.1 mmol/L (from 5.4 to 5.5)
Of course they are also rather small
Hooray for the nutty gooey gorgeousness that is the 9 bar!
Am I allowed to sound like an advert? Cos I can't help myself.![]()

Really?
Are you looking at the carbs /100g?
Or the carbs per bar?
The sizes of the bars are around 30-50g.
So a 40g peanut 9bar = 40% of 25.4g = um... around 10g carbs
(Got that from the tescos website)
