ally1,s BS levels

thank you all
bluetit, i will look in the chemist later
before bed test was 7

So your before bed level at 7.0 was the same as your before tea level, which is good. Your morning fasting test shows you are likely having a large liver dump over night as you were over 11 this morning. ( I assume your pre-breakfast level is fasting? You don't have a cuppa before you test do you?)

This is something you can tell your doctor today. I will be thinking of you.

pre lunch 13.6
post 15.7
just had a ham salad for lunch, havn,t been this high since i was in hospital

That 13.6 is a big jump from after your breakfast. Do you know why? And a rise of 2mmol after a salad isn't right.
You did say you took a Lemsip yesterday. Are you coming down with a cold? This might be the reason.

If you have a cold, that won't help, but you're right to want a chat with the Doc. Aside from anything else, it will help him understand how engaged you are becoming in managing your condition.

Hopefully, he'll have something in his box of tricks to help.

saw my gp. he has put the metformin up from 1500ms to 3000mgs aday
to see gp and blood test on the 30th december

I'm sorry for pushing so hard yesterday for you to go to the drs. But I was worried Ally..well done you for insisting on todays appointment and getting past the receptionist! Your dr is right to be concerned esp at todays readings. I know you are trying hard and I so hope the upped Met does the trick. Hang on in there :)

Hi ally, when I was on the same quantity of metaformin it really bought my bs down quickly - especially the fasting one. Especially when I started to low carb. Which was great. Hopefully in a week or so you will see great improvements - fingers crossed :)

Ally are you sure that you are prescribed 3000mg.

I had the impression that the maximum dosage is 2550mg I.e. 3*850mg.

Of course I am not a doctor and if your doctor prescribed 3000mg then I am sure he knows what he is doing.

Pavlos

Hopefully this will start to have an effect on your fasting levels as if they lower, you are starting from a better position for rest of day x

I thought this as well Pavlos. My prescribing book says 2550. Also
Perhaps there are exceptions

I think they used to be able to prescribe higher amounts up to what Ally has been put on. I don't know, but wonder if it is dose/ weight related? A larger person may well need higher amounts to achieve same end. I know cows do.

Yes you are right I remember my grandad used to talk about meds for animals on the farm
Doctors do sometimes prescribe higher amounts I know
Hopefully Ally will be recording much better levels

I'm glad that it didn't sound like I was comparing Ally to a cow!! I just know a lot of meds were weight dose related so maybe he reckons a higher dose more useful till Ally loses some weight. Hopefully the higher dose will take edge off appetite too so that some weight loss is precipitated as I know she is struggling a bit with that on top of the fluctuating BS levels.

Well done Ally for going to GP. Good that he listened and upped dosage.

If higher dose affects your stomach though, do go back....
