BS readings

Today was not a good day to choose a whole day of testing..............

First thing this morning 7.2 (8hrs since last eat), 2hrs after breakfast 9.3
Lunchtime 5.5 2hrs after 11.7
Teatime 5.3 2hrs after 10.5:facepalm:

I was looking forward to some nice results to go to my diabetic meeting tomorrow , looks like I will be going with my tail between my legs now :nailbiting:

But tomorrow is another day and it will be better...you have been doing really well..I guess this is why testing is so important pre and post meals. We can jot down in a notebook what we ate and how much and what the rise was..then next time try a reduced portion and see if the rise is under 2 units. Good luck for your review tom

Oh dear, not a good day. I thought I was having a bad day till I saw yours! What did you have for your 3 meals?

Small bowl Museli (no added salt or sugar type) with semi skimmed milk for breakfast
Lunch, Home made veg (leek, pea, pepper, pearl barley, spinach & kale, celery and a little carrot) and chicken soup two slice of Bergen bread (Sunflower & Chia) and a cereal bar.
Tea, Sweet potato chips (cooked in the oven) and battered fish (oven ready type)

That lot could put me in hospital

I was unsure of the battered fish, I have had the bread previously and tested OK don't think the soup would push me over. Again the cereal I had for breakfast I have had previously and was OK. Back to the drawing board I think................

Well I got my Codefree meter today and thought I would go a bit crazy with my testing just for the CRACK. Some of my worst results but all self inflicted. Have a look at these

4.9 fasting and breakfast 1 hr 6.2 2hr 8.1 3hr 6.2Breakfast of scrambled egg, tomatoes, baked beans, Cinnamon and lemon black tea. Carrot and Grapefruit Juice after my walk at 6.2

before lunch 5.5 at 1.00 pm 1hr 7.5 2hr 6.8 Cheese with med salad plus 2 crackers with cream cheese afternoon tea.
before dinner 4.8 at 6.30 pm 1hr 8.00 2hr 7.3 3 hr 8.9 (what happened there) spinach and new potato curry with 1 flatbread and salad

So need to restore order tomorrow. No baked bans, no carrot and grapefruit juice, no crackers, no potatoes new or otherwise.

The peas and carrots in your soup won't have helped, and together with 2 slices of bread and a cereal bar made a very carby meal.
Burgen bread is 12g carbs per slice, so that makes 24g without the cereal bar and starchy veg.
Battered fish from a shop isn't a wise choice, especially with another carb - the sweet potato.

Are you counting your carbs? Perhaps you should.

Blimey you two. I wasn't going to post mine, but I will now

Fasting 5.8
1hr after breakfast 6.4
before lunch 5.7
1hr after 6.6
before tea 5.2 (fresh cod, mushrooms in butter, garden peas, 3 new spuds, small glass wine)
1hr after 7.9
2hrs after 7.2
2.5hrs after 6.5

I overdid the spuds. 3 normally fine, but one was quite big, and more peas than normal.

Very respectable @Bluetit1802 . Looks pretty good to me. Great discipline despite the Spuds and peas. You are like a top end BMW purring along whilst us in our Ford Mondeos cough and backfire to try to keep up.

My problem is I don't put into practice what I preach. I am annoyed with my after tea readings because I've never gone up the 7's with this meal before, and we have it once a week normally. Also, I was up in the 8's between 1hr and 2hrs yesterday after tea, down to 6.5 at 2.5hrs. So 2 days on the trot have not done wonders for my averages. Must try harder.

Not the best day
Fasting 6
Pre lunch 5.5
Post lunch 4.7
Pre dinner 4.9
So I thought I'd experiment - both of us out so picked up dinner on way home
Had fish and chips and some curry sauce from chippy .. Removed most batter but had a large handful chips and a big dollop sauce.
1 hr 9.8 !!!
1 1/2 hrs 8.8
2 hrs ditto

I suspect part of rise was curry sauce which is basically sugar, flour and spices and also enzyme lag as I haven't had so many carbs in one go since diagnosis. Will keep testing to see how long it takes to get back to sensible figure.

To err is to be human, thank goodness for that. Tomorrow is indeed another day, a new dawn a new day, continue to preach for you do it with such assurity, be kind, be gentle be happy. Have some great numbers in your slumber.!!
