Pasta, sorry to me it's vile, yeuch lol (and full of nasty carbs)
I started eating eggs again after years of ignoring them and boy they don't half make you windy lol. I am trying to reduce my carbohydrates so I would like help on what to avoid eating. I am asking this as I do not have a lot of my colon left due to surgery and do not like being banged up with wind or a social leper lol. Cheers folks.

You definitely don't want to eat anything with refined carbohydrates in and that means that sugar and flour should be avoided. The fun is finding out what has sugar or flour in.

Reduced quantities of rice if you must have rice and reduced quantities of potato or use new potatoes but you should test your blood sugar two hours after eating because some potatoes spike you and some don't.

Root vegetables have carbs in. Tropical fruits have more sugar in.

Try not to go to extremes since if you enjoy the foods you can eat then you will keep doing it for longer.

Great if you want to fly a kite on a windy day eddie :p :hilarious:

Definitely sprouts, at my teenagers Junior school, sprouts were never on the menu even with Christmas dinner and she was sad :(because she has always loved sprouts, I like them as well :)

I suppose its just a process of elimination Eddie, sprouts (as RRB says) always seems to be one of the biggest culprits as does cabbage.

Have you heard of those flatulence deodorizing pads etc;, just a thought, if you like your eggs.:stop:

Izzi, just want to avoid farty foods lol
phew that's a relief,

Beans, onions, eggs...

But I find eggs are ok if I don't have them every day, and eat them with other stuff. Spanish omelette, veg quiche, bacon or salmon and egg. That kind of thing.

No ones mentioned metformin. That was really brass instrument blowing for me!
Since very low carb and no metformin, don't pass much wind at all!

Your body is telling you at end of its travels wether a meal is good for you!

I'd take probiotic and eat them every day and you'll grow gut bugs to handle them and the fibre in your food, diabetics also have different gut bugs, so a range of probiotics is a good idea anyway.
there is an indian herb that they use or wind too, forgot the name and I've never used it. I do what my mum does when she lets one go in public, she apologises and says that the dr said she needs an operation :), I;m finding it works for me in my old age too :)

I remember this little saying:-

" Pardon me for being so rude
It was not me it was my food
It just popped up to say hello
and now it's gone down below":p

I have no idea where this came from, but it's years old lol

RRB :)

I can't believe I'm going to share this, but if it gives someone a good laugh, it was worth it.

When I first started on low-carb and Metformin, my wind was absolutely vile. My husband and I were in a grocery store and I could feel the familiar tummy rumbling. There was another lady in the same aisle, about 20 ft away. Well....I let out what is known as a "silent but deadly" and quickly ran from the aisle, calling over my shoulder to my husband that I would "grab some milk". The lady continued her way down the aisle toward my husband (and where I had just been standing), practically turned green (according to my husband), and gave him a filthy look! He caught up with me and said he was going to kill me for making it look like he did it! I anticipated the whole thing and was doubled over in the dairy aisle, laughing my **** off! :D

I have found that since I gave up starchy carbs I am a hell of a lot less windy. So is Mr Scandi so I would recommend LCHF. I used to get horrendous reflux which is also non existent.

I totally agree with @Scandichic . I used to be very unladylike, with a noisy walk which I always blamed on the squeaky floorboards...;). Since going LCHF its become a distant memory and I rarely embarrass myself.... Quite miss it actually..:p

As we're sharing windy stories, this is my fave of all time and told to me by my then neighbour......(if you've read this before, I'm sorry)
A friend of my neighbour and his girlfriend were going to a family do. Tasked with taking dessert, they stopped by a cake shop (in Sweden there are shops where you can buy gateaux just like France and Germany). There is a queuing system in place and you take a slip of paper with a number and wait your turn. To cut a long story short, the poor girlfriend suddenly needed to break wind. The longer she waited, the worse the feeling but finally it was her turn. Taking baby steps and clenching hard, she shuffled to the front of the queue, pointed to the first available cake, threw the money at the guy behind the counter, grabbed the cake and exited the shop as quickly as possible in her delicate condition. She yanked open the car door, deposited the cake on the backseat, sunk down into the passenger seat and with eyes closed let go. Only to open her eyes and, to her horror, stare into the face of a rather bemused stranger. She exited the car at record speed and finally got into the right car. What really makes me giggle is the thought of what that poor man said to his wife when he got home...well there's good news and bad news......
