Your total cholesterol is fine. Your HDL could do with increasing a bit, which will lower the ratio. The ratio should ideally be under 4. No LDL or Trigs?
Low carb will (or should) help with these figures. Fats don't seem to make much difference at all in most people.

Butter is good for you. It won't raise your cholesterol! Also fasting/non fasting only affects triglycerides.
I've always preferred butter not just for taste but for it being more natural than spreads...... I'd always thought it was one of the cholesterol raisers though, good to hear it isn't but my body told me to cut back on it again this morning, it usually let's me know. I've heard of triglycerides but not read up on them.

I know my carbs are probably nowhere near as low as most. I do a rough check what's in my meals but don't tot up for the day. I go off the spike. Thanks again :)

PS @bluetit no LDL or trigs. I did get a printout without asking, I was going to jot figures down but sha saw notepad and said she always gives a printout :)

I was just typing well done on the hba1c when a friend turned up so well done.

If you can cope with porridge then yes, oats are good for cholesterol lowering - Some people do see elevated levels when they go LCHF but Id be more inclined to look at your carb intake first before tweaking the fats bit.

Bloods show am no longer in prediabetic range. Cholesterol up a bit so swap butter with toast for breakfast to porridge again for while..... HbA1c 39 woohoo......
Please can I stay guys? :D - couldn't have done it without you......
I certainly hope you do stay! Well done you!! Hope you are feeling proud!

Thank you :) I'll look at that as @bluetit said something similar about dropping the carbs too

Excellent results on the hba1c results. I am sure the cholesterol will come down also. So as you've been so good you can stay:)

in DEBENHAM Sales i picked up a very nice V neck sweater. I drowned in the XL (My usual size) So chose what I thought was a L size and when I got home it fitted so snug yet comfortable. Then discovered it was actually M. size I feel like a bloody 20 year old. I went out today and bought two more shirts and another medium sized sweater. If you needed motivation guys n gals its in the clothes, there's almost a Swagger in my walk which I am sure I didn't even have when I though I was the centre of the universe at 20...WOW!!

YOU are truly SUPER DIABETES WOMAN or WONDER GIRL what an inspiration in deed as well as word. You are sO kind, caring and supportive too. Do you know its been 2 months and two weeks since I was diagnosed. Should I get my 3 month Hba1c booked now or after 3 month ends.

I'm sure you will do wonderfully well. You are dedicated to our cause. Any blips will be your body adjusting to "going it alone" and out of your control. Going meds-free is a big achievement too
